Aloha, I have an 06 double cab prerunner. My mechanic checked out my frame and it's one of the worst he's seen. He's telling me my truck is only worth parts right now. I got the lawsuit notice but I don't have the time to wait till June for the word on the settlement. Has anyone had frame replacement or repair done here on Oahu? I'm thinking about just getting it done before the settlement and hope for reimbursement once it goes through. I will need to sell my truck in the next 6 months and don't want to sell a lemon.

I had brought it in to Windward Toyota in Kaneohe back in 2014 or early 2015 during the initial recall for rusty frame and they told me there was nothing they could do for me because the recall didn't apply to Hawaii even though my car originated in New Jersey, a rust belt state that the recall applied too. A few months ago I called Toyota and they told me that the Kaneohe guys should have done something about it and gave me the wrong info and the my car would have been covered by the recall but it had since expired and nothing could be done now. I was pissed. Im really disappointed in how Toyota has handled this. I have fissures and holes in my frame. I've always taken good care of my truck, yes it has been exposed to salt on roads and some water from towing boats but I always rinse it. Should have had it undercoated when I got it. Lesson learned for next vehicle.

On another note, Waipahu is going to inspect the leafs springs next month and hopefully replace, as they are also under recall for rust.

I think reimbursement can only be given to people that paid to replace the frames prior to Jan 2017.

you're better off waiting till April or June for the settlement to become finalized and have your frame replaced during that extension.

If its clear title, legal and you wanna sell it for a real great deal as a parts truck..I woudnt mind some good doors and interior.

Im kinda wondering about that letter we got in the mail recently too, about that settlement. I went to the site and thats about it.
