@PROseur well the old girlfriend got the brunt of it lol. By the time me and this one hooked up I was over the whole scene.
@ClassifiedInfo I am pretty sure it doesn't happen too much around here anymore either. Get to NYC and you will make some cash.

I would if I intended to barback or bartend as a career. It's not that I don't like my job... I took a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity from an amazing friend who happened to be the general manager of my favorite watering hole, and turned out to be a more competent bar employee than even I thought I could be. I have worked at CVS (which actually lasted 2 years), a public library, a nursing home, Dunkin Donuts, and a deli... It just didn't work out.

The thing that attracts me to my current job the most is that I am treated as a person and not a diagnosis, and the whole place is like one big family. They take care of each other. Me and my boss will probably be friends for life.

However, I probably will not move to NYC to be a barback. Working at Puck works out not because I'm a genius at what I do there (far from it), but because I've built up a relationship with the people there. Unless I found a general manager like the woman I work for now at a bar in NYC, I'd probably last one summer at the most.

Also, in case you haven't noticed, my career is probably going to be in freelance writing...

Also, I think I will be technically working three jobs, but not in the way you might be thinking (three minimum wage retail jobs). Primary job will either be as an HVAC tech or insurance claims adjuster, then a second job as a freelance writer, followed by supplementing the income from the first two jobs by working at the bar on weekends. I won't be rich but I'll be living my version of the American dream and actually enjoying it...

I think bar backs get way more BJ's than writers, just saying. Work as a barback and write about the adventures.

I gotta wonder the bar where you work has no coverage for employee parking.

As cheap as decent systems are these days we have our complete lot covered and all the entrances both outside and in

Then maybe there are business deals that they would rather not have on video

Not really... Since the end of the summer in 2014, the lot is controlled by a private valet service in an attempt to keep non-Puck customers out by forcing everyone to pay $5 for parking (all I'm gonna say is that few people like this arrangement), and people tend not to mess with parked vehicles. The parking lot is very safe, but people just have no respect for people's property anymore and if something happens to my truck I want to make whoever is responsible pay for the damage...

Puck is probably where I have the least problems with parking. It's everywhere else that's a problem. My truck was the victim of numerous hit and runs in the parking lot at college, and I regularly find little scrapes and scuffs that I would remember causing if I was the one who caused them...

And then after what happened to my dad's Honda Pilot in the parking lot of Wells Fargo Center last month... Hit and run driver, about $444 in damage... Having a dashcam running at all times could save my ass or someone else's...

    Ok I see

Then I see drivers so clueless they don`t even know the hit other vehicles attempting to park

In the last 3 days I saw vehicles run into the vehicles in front of them hard enough to bounce back.

As long as you get a plate number and can identify the driver beyond a doubt you might be able to collect .

That is why I like my truck it has been hit by 6 Deer and two forklifts the deer did more damage in the last 4 years

Only if you're running cams front, rear, driver and passenger side, no?

Otherwise you're spending a lot of money for little return.

    Dual battery systems aren't cheap.

My 2.7 just hit 198k and still runs great. Never had to do any mechanical work on the engine at all. Replaced the power steering rack at 155k and the suspension at 160k and new exhaust a while back is all I've done so far. Regular oil changes and fluid flushes once in a while. I need to replace the Cat soon but thats mostly from living in salt covered VT most of its life. Mine is manual so I can't speak to the auto transmission.

'94 22RE here. It's definitely approaching the need for a timing chain replacement at 176k, although it could probably be driven for a long while as is. There are no symptoms of broken guides, so I'm wondering if the previous owner put metal ones in there. I got it with about 90k on the dial, so it's likely on chain #2 already.

Other than that, it has been rock solid for the 8 years I've had it. I'll probably put it up for sale very soon, though. It deserves an owner who is willing to restore it, or at least a young owner who can use a cheap vehicle for its final years.

I'm crossing my fingers that my 2TR-FE will go 350k+, we shall see as it will only take me about 9 years to get there (provided my home/job situation remains the same).
