I just washed/claybar'd/waxed my truck yesterday. When I woke up this morning it was raining (of course!), and when the windshield wipers traveled ove the windshield, these huge blobs appeared.

Now, I think they were there before, but they weren't near as noticeable.

    Things I've done:

    -Washed and scrubbed windshield
-Ran a clay bar over windshield
    -Waxed windshield (techwax 2.0)

I noticed these blobs on my last vehicle too, it was a Subaru Forester I bought new from the dealership. Is it the stupid "protectant" they spray on and then try and sell you?

    Thanks!

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I say this is probably right. Especially with waxing a windshield.

Get to scrubbing and let us know the outcome.

If you are going to clay your windshield make sure you are using glass clay. The tech wax has some type of polymer in it designed to bond w/ paint. It may not be compatible w/ glass.

I didn't really apply the wax that way at all though. I applied to the applicator and then made circles on the paint.

Also, if I look at the rear window, it'll do the same thing, and I didn't use the "wax" (I think it's technically a polymer). But I'll try.

I used the "Mother's" claybar, and I hadn't heard anything about the polymer and glass. But I was just reading some threads elsewhere, and it looks like you aren't supposed to use it on windshields as it can "cause severe smearing."

So I guess I'll be scrubbing it all off and applying rainx

    Lesson learned!

Get some duragloss Nu-glass and scrub your glass with a terry or microfiber applicator. Then wash with a good glass cleaner. Then use a Sealant like Aquapel. I don't recommend wax/sealants on windshields. Other windows is fine. But on glass, waxes/sealants can cause some funky wiper and water behavior.

I appreciate the advice, can those all be picked up locally? I've got an O'reilly's down the road,

    Thanks!

It looks like these stores carry it:
    https://www.duragloss.com/Available-at-these-participating-stores

Or you can order it from Amazon (with Prime shipping):
    https://smile.amazon.com/Duragloss-...UTF8&qid=1487615484&sr=8-7&keywords=duragloss

I'd definitely try DuraGloss before any other harsh cleaners. I picked up this one for about the same price, and it worked pretty well on my wife's Jetta that had really heavy water spots. Stripped the windshield and reapplied Rain-X (I know, I know, I'm just trying to use the stuff up so I can get a better glass sealant) and water beads up like it used to.

Do you have hard water in your area? Looks almost like faint hard water spots. You could try some white vinegar & see if it helps any.

If it's water spots, Bar Keepers Friend - AKA oxalic acid or wood bleach - is a little stronger than vinegar.

I wouldn't try a razor blade or brake cleaner. Not sure of local availability of the DG polish or AQUAPEL. I buy from Autogeek.com or Amazon. You can get 6 Aquapel apppicators on amazon for like $24 (or 1 for $7, give or take). If you deep clean/polish before application (with something like nu-glass) you will get several months out of the Aquapel. Much better than rainX. Water won't run off quite as quickly as with RainX, but it won't ever fog up on you or prematurely decay. It's a whole other animal. Awesome stuff.

I see those spots from time to time. I don't know if it's something from the manufacturing or installation process or what. And they sometimes get enhanced with different cleaners or waxes. A good polish like DG should take care of it. And your wipers will thank you for the Aquapel.
