This is way different than the crap that dealers sell you. Do your research

The opti coat you apply yourself is a completely different product than the ones detailers do. But still great stuff :)

I guess the benefit is not having to do sealants and waxes a few times a year. This is a one time deal, as long as you properly maintain it anyways...

Yep. Had ceramic pro done on last 2 trucks, nano coatings are a cool and great new option.

It's not the only option, price, long term results are still out for verdict and a lot of the detailing community continues to hold out. Spend some time on auto geek forums, nanos are a topic of debate. Not saying it's bad either man. Just a healthy discussion.

The problem is with all the snake oils that have been sold over the years and are still being sold with most of these products you just don't know. But I've been doing a lot of research and have talked to quite a few really hardcore detailers - seems that it's becoming pretty unanimous that the legit nano coatings out there are actually legit and a smart way to go if you want to protect your paint for the long term and not want to put a clay bar and buffer to it twice a year

As long as you're happy man, thats all that really matters.. Just realize they want it to be the way of the future too. They can charge 3-4 times for nano coating than the traditional paint correction and polish, which is the same time process, it's highly profitable for them. Dosen't mean it dosen't work either. Nanos aren't new the better ones though are and long term protection/results are still up in the air. Again I've gone both routes, both work and both are good options and can achieve the same results/protection. Nano's just make it less maintenance-some for the owner to maintain. A lot of guys will actually nano and still coat with a good wax to achieve more depth/etc.

Well you can't put wax on opticoat... And the the guys who gave me this info were friends not guys trying to charge me. But I hear you. Time will tell. From my research into this particular product I'm a believer lol

I've used Opti-Coat Pro and Nanolex on several vehicles. I think the Opti-Coat provides a little better protection, but I love the Nanolex since it makes washing the truck super easy.

I am with you except for the off roading.
I love my truck and want to keep it as perfect as possible while I have it.
My friend is an OPTI-Coat dealer and I still passed on it. Got them to do another treatment to the paint. Price was one reason, the other is that they require you to use the no-rinse washin order to maintain the warranty. I live in an apartment and do not readily have access to some place to wash my truck by hand whenever I want so it's car washes for me and the odd hand wash when I can areange it.

Ya if the plan is to go to car washes the opti coat isn't advised.

Lucky for me I have a great little detailing set up in my garage.

Was surprised how easy it was too hand wash it though after the coating

Opinion on CQuartz finest or prof vs Opticoat? Looking at both options and it seems Cquartz is more expensive and needs more frequent maintainence that Opticoat...

I can attest to cquartz finest. Friend has it on his 2015 mustang and even put it on himself. It's been a year now and it's still working great. We both do a bunch of driving and bugs are starting to stick so he's going to redo the front of the car after summer. The rest of it still beads water like the day he put it on.

Only maintenance he does is a hand wash every other week. Sometimes even longer. My next truck will definitely have cquartz on it.

I would. Its my understanding that some of these are not warrantied unless done by a certified shop.
