    Love my pro
    10,400 miles on it

But love my gen 1 more

Do you think your wheels with 3.5 BS will rub on stock Taco no lift ? Or 4.5bs is way to go ?

Of course man. Gotta stick with the 1st gens!

I'm not sure but I would think tire size would make more of a difference. With 4.5bs you won't get as much "poke" which would probably look better for a stock setup, but with the 3.5bs you get the sexier, deeper lip.

I have a matching spare, you're welcome to test fit if you're near/in San Diego.

I may be picking up a set of wheels in SD (waiting on PM back)

If I can strike a deal with him I would kindly take up your offer to test fit on stock truck to see status

    Appreciate it

Sure thing! Just let me know and if I'm available, we can throw it on. It's got a 285/75-16 tire on there but is practically bald. Never had to use it but on my next set of tires I plan to buy all 5.

Wanted to get back to you on this. Without the sway bar my bro in law @nihkon said my truck looked like a stadium truck on the highway (he was following me on our way out to Jacumba this past Sunday). After he said this, I started paying closer attention to it and around town the "swaying" motion was very noticeable but at highway speed, it didn't feel as bad (still noticeable though).

Off road I probably lifted a rear tire once the whole time (at least it felt like I never/hardly lifted a tire). It definitely improved the comfort over rough terrain and kept the wheels planted on almost all the trails we went through.

I'm leaving mine off for now. If anything changes with my suspension setup or with the weight that will constantly be on the truck, I'll decide then if I need to reinstall it.
So, even with what everyone else is experiencing when removing their front sway bar, the best thing to do is to try it for yourself. For me, I like it and I hope I never need to reinstall it ever.

Thanks for your real world experience explanation. That makes a lot of sense. I'll probably just try it as you suggested and see how I like the changes in handling

@synergy10 Are you planning on addressing the holes by covering them up somehow or filling them in?

I'm going to cover the holes with some paint matched retainer clips to see if I like it. Got the idea from a guy I sold some parts to last year. If they don't workout, I'll leave the holes as is.

This should be happening soon. I initially ordered the incorrect retainer clips. I know what size I need now and will update this thread once I've done it.

Got a few things done today. Color matched the grill and corner lamps. Then installed my cleaner set of retrofit headlights and teq emblem.

I like it down there in Jacumba, it's a boulderer / rock climber's paradise. Great pics from there in this thread! Sad to see stuff desperate people left behind on their way over here. Woman's purse out in the rocks left a deep impression on me - thought about my own mom climbing through that sh!t and made me feel really bad. Sorry about your double cab, but man you've got a nice setup with that access cab. Look forward to seeing more adventures!

Agreed man. Yeah, the double cab was coming along quite nicely. Guess it just wasn't meant to be. Really appreciate it and more adventures to come for sure!

Bro, how did you go about color matching the grill and corner lamps. I've been wanting to do the same but I'm afraid to mess something up in the process. I am NOT good at painting.

I just used some duplicolor perfect match paint, primer and clear coat (should have gone heavier on the clear). I really only had about a day and a half to prep, paint and install so I could have done better.

I do have an extra chrome grill that I can take my time on if this one starts to flake/chip/peel. I'm wondering if selling it or trading it for a factory black plastic one would be better, since I wouldn't have to sand off all the "chrome". I mainly did it to see if I really like the look of a color matched grill on a white taco and I do (for me, it's a no-brainer on other factory colors).

Maybe look into a @HomerTaco grill? If I can't get my grill to where I want it, I may just bite the bullet and drop $300+ on one (when he has them available).

So you had to sand down the chrome that you're going to paint right? It's the little things like that I don't know about.

What clear coat did you use? Rusto / other brand 1k or some good 2k? I've used a few kinds with varied results - nothing bad though. Curious to see what other diy'ers are using!
