Looks good! I like the look of the SCS wheels on your truck. What size tires? 285s?

    New valence too maybe?
Or you can try the heat gun method on it. But it'll eventually fade again. But works great. Super easy to do and lasts quite a while.

Yes good call on the valence. Why match all plastic parts and then make that grey?

Can you tell me more about the heat gun trick?

Can't promise that it'll be staying black though. Poor color choice in my area. Summer sun can get it bakin' in black vehicles. Just got it a month ago...

C'mon mang. I'm in az and it's not THAT bad.. Once u go black u neva go back. lol..
I would suggest getting metalized/ceramic tint tho. I just have regular but pretty dark and it helps a LOT. I may go all out at some point with the specialized tint. They can even do windshield film that isn't tinted but rejects heat.

respek. I had a couple days on the Nevada border last July in 100*+ weather. Driving around at 10 pm with the sky completely dark and still feeling like a hair dryer was blowing in my face doing 70 ish on the freeway. Disorienting. I'll look into the reflective material for the windows. Thanks for the tip!

You can find videos on YouTube easily. But here's my little write-up when I did it to mine.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/restoring-faded-plastic-with-heat-gun-works-my-review.348248/

Again this is not a permanent fix. And there's speculation/reports that it even speeds up the fading process. But I'm not sure that's valid or not. Mine have faded again and needs to be done asap tho. But it's so easy. And generally lasts longer than the chemical treatments. Maybe if you followed it up with the treatments after the heat gun it would last longer. But I'm lazy. Ha.

Haha yeah I know the feeling. But exactly why repainting doesn't really justify the cost vs gains (imo, unless it needs it/not a problem for you to repaint)... Its gonna be hot as balls either way.

It's got a good tree scrape down one side. By the time I'm done pulling out the dents, patching it up and smoothing it out with bondo and priming it, it'll be time for some new material. I'm an ex-house painter and this is going to be a trail rig eventually. I'm looking at monstaliner right now, but I'll probably prime it and seal it with some flat rattle cans until the bodywork (maybe some fiberglass fenders) is 100% squared away.

One thing I can say is that going from a black on black honda fit to my white on gray 08 taco did make a big difference in how it felt to get in the vehicle in the middle of the day. But some days like you mentioned just don't matter unless you're getting into an ice cream truck lol.

Yeah I wish I had the patience to repaint/body work. As well as tools even, to just begin a project like that. And respect to those that can do it. If funds allowed I would have it done for me. But I think a liner application is about my best option. She's too old to worry about it that much imo. Maybe if she had been treated better it might be worth it lol.

I feel like I'm worse off than most though and it's gotten to the point of no return. Would take WAY too much effort to get it all straightened out at this point. So I'll Probly just spray liner and not even worry about body work or anything. Lol.

But yeah, I've got a nice long scratch from when my gf borrowed my truck and scraped our fence pulling in. Not to mention three, yes THREE fuckin penises scratched in on the other side from when a couple co-workers decided to finger them in after a mudding session. Barely noticeable unless you point them out. Or when it's clean. So I tend to neglect washing it often. Lmao. But yeah.. And on top of all that my entire roof And hood clear coat is trashed from the sun. Um, hundreds of chips all down rocker panels. Screw holes in the bed rails from p.o. Also small dents in hood that look like hail damage.. Hm what else. Lol. Idk. Anyways... cool story bro, hm? Lmao.

lol that's what friends are for I guess? Yeah it's definitely a good option for trucks moving on in years. I'm no body work expert - here's my first attempt at fixing a dent:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/anthony-y-el-burrito-blanco.372728/page-2#post-10688456

I might get a new door once I have some play money for cosmetics. I see them pop up for $150 often on CL. Then I'd really just have the extended cab part which is a lot like my dent in the link.

Here's a good example of a monstalined truck, it looks pretty good I'd say: And since this is the "all black" thread, a member's truck in black monstaliner:

Dang, yeah that 4runner looks noice!! Bookmarked that! Yeah it's one of the last things to do on my list, so I haven't even really researched it yet. So thanks for that. When the time comes I'll look into trying to fix a few things at least. Idk. My brother has a lot of tools and has painted vehicles before. So painting may still be an option. But I'd still like to keep it black. Not impressed with how that black lined tacoma came out tho. Didn't really check it all out, but maybe itd be better with a clear coat? Idk. I'll have to check others out too.
