I have a 2016 Tacoma SR5 (short bed) with the factory Tri-fold Tonneau Cover. Today I noticed that the Retention Bolt that holds it in place was missing.

For the Bolt (64935-04010 part number) Toyota tried charging me $88!

Does anyone have an extra they will sell or know if a back way to get ahold of one??

    Thanks in advance!

Google shows low $60s. May want to just shop it around.

That's what I'm seeing as well. If I can find the exact specs I might just get one custom machined? It's hard for me to spend that for a $1 Bolt!

Think I figured out why yours is now missing! Guessing somebody else needed the $88 bolt. Sorry. :(

Yup, I ran a nut to the bottom on the inside for this very reason with some threadlocker.

    TIP:
You'll have to lineup/install the nut before you completely cinch down the bolt. You won't be able to get to it once the bolt is fully seated as it is long and almost touches the wheel hump in the short bed.

Why wouldn't the bolt be included under the Toyota 2 year standard warranty? They did installed it?

    Damn that's pricey.

I know it's a 12mm head so should be an 8mm diameter thread. Going from memory it's maybe 50-60mm long? I should measure mine sometime.

Seems to be a wide flange bolt. I'd think a normal flange bolt, possibly with a fender washer, should work fine as a replacement.

I'll try to remember to measure mine later today to double check sizing, perhaps someone else would be able to do so sooner.

Good idea. Guess I will do that, or get a nylock nut.

That should work too, I've got plenty of the standard profile metric nuts and bolts.

Like @gpb said, a washer will suffice.
I grabbed two 8mm fender washers and they're roughly the same size of the factory bolt with the huge flange.

Top bolt from the parts box is 8x50mm
    Middle is the factory bolt
    Bottom is 8x60mm

    Scale for reference. Have fun......:)

Thanks, @GPsevinSixx -- looks like an M8x55 flange bolt plus 8mm fender washer would be dead on. Love it when I guess stuff correctly. :)

Looks like an $86 savings over OEM.

    Show off :).... you're good...

FYI, the factory bolt is stepped/tapered the last 3mm of thread. I guess it helps line it up easier.

I am not the OP. I still have mine for now. I like finding economical replacements to avoid going to stealerships for overpriced OEM parts.

Good to know. I edited my post above to the more easily searchable "M8x55" nomenclature.

Guess even a blind squirrel sometimes finds an acorn. :D
