So I have been looking all over for how to replace the license plate light with the LED bulb. I have the bulb, i just can't get the access to the light to replace it. It doesn't have a screw like earlier generations. I tried to twist the harness under the bumper and pull it out but no luck. Has anyone does this work before?

Push in towards bumper and then twist counter clockwise if looking at it from the engine ?

I can't even get my hand to bend the right way to reach them to change mine out. Trailer hitch makes it a real PITA.

Figured it out. Just grab and twist the gray piece. Use one hand to pull out the plastic a little and the other can reach it enough to turn it

Just installed my led license plate lights today and you are right it is a challenge with a tow package. I was able to get the right side by just twisting the grey plug counterclockwise and pushing in at the same time and it released. Replaced the bulb and reinstalled. However, the left side for some reason was more of a challenge. I couldn't push in and twist at the same time. So, I used a flat screwdriver and pushed in on the charcoal plastic lens assembly piece and popped the whole assembly forward and towards the license plate. Pulled the wire connector through, replaced the bulb, reinserted into the lens assembly and snapped it back into the bumper. In retrospect, I think releasing the whole lens assembly towards the license plate makes it a lot easier then trying to squeeze your hands into such a tight space. Don't be fooled by the heavy duty clamps on the side of the assembly. With a screw driver and proper pressure they will push in and release. Good Luck!

While fighting with that one, the bulb fell out and into the lens assembly. Do those clips lock in and need to be squeezed in on both sides, or will simply pushing towards the plate get that thing to pop out?

I changed mine from the top, just gently pry out the light from the bumper and than you can easily change out the bulb. No need to do it from underneath.

It's not easy to pry out the cover from the top without putting a couple small scratches around it. I had to do it that way on one of mine because the bulb actually fell out as I was twisting the thing back in and I couldn't get it back out any other way. Was a total pain in the ass, but I got it done.

Same thing happened to me, but I popped it out from underneath. I was worried about cracking it prying from the top.

Mine came out easy, no scratches or any trouble at all.
