Hello all. I am very new to the suspension world. I'm trying my best to research all I can but, it's a lot to take in all at once. I have a stock, 2011 prerunner, 2x4, 4 door, short bed and I'm looking to get some travel, better suspension and good on and off road performance. I'm thinking about installing some bilstein 6112 in the front and 5160 in the rear. (Opinion?) Also, how important is it that I change out the leaf springs? What other components do I need to buy some that I don't damage anything? I would like to keep it around $2000.

your shocks that you have picked are very good shocks. are looking to keep your factory coils? if you are looking for 3 inches of lift and add a leaf would be a good option to level the back with the front being 3 inches. if you are looking for more lift in the rear you will need a carrier bearing spacer. pm Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road she'll will get you everything you need and help with any other questions you will have. also think about some 4" maxtracs spindals. for the front. you could keep you stock coilovers and be good.

    Anyone seen my wallet?
6112s come with coil as its a larger body shock. yes, youll need to add something in the rear for lift. as mentioned above, AAL is a start but with a 2k budget you can aim for OME dakars or All-pro pack.

If you intend on staying prerunner, id also recommend going maxtracs on the front. its a 4 inch lift on the front that doesnt alter the suspension geometry, no UCA (upper control arm) or alignment issues. If you intend on coverting to 4x4, skip the maxtracs.

Great info guys. I will most likely be going with the ome Dakars and I will definitely look into the maxtracs.
