I have a 2015 dclb with a Leer cap on the bed. I won't be sleeping back there, but there will be a constant load of 100 lbs. Plus the shell. The previous owner installed 2" blocks to raise it up. I have an Icon AAL from my previous truck. I'm either going to install that with oem 3+1 overload or buy a new leaf pack and do it once. I cant stand the blocks, but I don't want to install the aal if it won't hold the weight.

    What to do?

Which leaf pack is best for my daily driver + beach runner?

Thanks in advance for the input!!

If your current leaf pack is flat, it will probably work well with the AAL set. If it is obviously frowning then I would consider a replacement leaf set.

The OME Dakars or our Wheeler's 8 Leaf are both very popular choices that will probably suite your needs well.

Thanks Dan! The stock leaves are fine.
I just don't want to put the aal in and end up removing it in a year. I have a pair of Dakars in my cart at Wheelers. Just trying to decide how much work I want to do. Brake lines, bumpstops, flip kit...etc.

I just ordered and received the 7 leaf Dakar from Wheeler's. Great price and fast service. You might want to specify that the front bushings are the old style rubber or the urethane bushings. Mine came with the front socket empty.

I wasn't planning on doing anything with the brake lines, it looks to me like they don't come into play at all. I was gonna use the stock bumpstops too. Bad idea?

I like them. Had some trial and error happen to me and had another pack sent out. But everything worked out fine in the end. I would say this though. If you're not running hc rear bumper with weight do not 100% do not put the AAL in

Do normal Icon2.0 rear shocks work with the Dakar pack?

@spiralout462 what did you end up going with? I have a 14 DCLB and leer 180 shell as well. I have it built out for camping and do so often. I was thinking about upgrading the rear when I change out the front suspension in the next couple months. Looking at Bilstein 6112 in front and possibly 5100 or 5160s in the rear with an AAL vs replacement pack. And recommendations pro or con?

Went with OME Dakar. I havent regretted it once! I considered keeping my Icon aal i had before the cap, but knew it wouldnt be up to the work I need from leafs.
