    Check! And thanks!

Leaning toward the tepui Ayer ruggedized based on other posts... just trying to narrow the size down. Not much room on a short bed, and don't want to hang off the end. Picked up a OTT pack rack and am waiting for the GB to close... I've seen a bunch of Ayer RTTs here, but none on a 3rd gen.

That was #2 on my list before I stumbled on a group buy for Freespirit Recreation. I went with the Original Medium. 56x48 closed footprint so in a longbed with 8" of space from the rear glass it looks like this:

You can fit any of the "normal" size tents over a short bed with no problems. Normal being the tents most people have which measure roughly 56x48" closed.

Wow look what happens when you give more information than "I'm looking for a tent". Amazing.

If you are referring to these common china RTT's then yes - the direction of opening is your choice - you can even open to the front and/or rear if you'd like..

Kukenam/Autana will also fit fine on a short bed.

It's more a matter of the size of the tent. The more common 2-3 man tents are short enough that you can rotate them any direction without any overhang. If I remember right, the width of the bed is 55" and most smaller RTTs are around 45" x 55" folded. A Geo 165 is the largest you can get on a DCSB without overhang but if you rotate it to open to the rear, it'll hang over the sides. Anything larger will be limited in the same way.

On thhe folding soft shell type tents, when you first install the mounting tracks on the bottom, you can pick which direction they face which changes whether it opens front/back or left/right. And it's not permanent, you can change orientation later if you change your mind or setup.

This was posted literally two posts after your initial one asking for a turd gen with a RTT on it........:notsure:

Did you even go back a page to see the posts that were made after your initial one?

Plenty of room on a short bed, that's a Tepui Autana Sky on a short bed, still plenty of room and not hanging off the end of the bed.

Thanks for the info AND the forward... truly! I clearly missed it.

TOUGH CROWD HERE! What's up with the finger wagging and escalation in this thread? Sad.

Because it gets annoying seeing the same post over and over and over and over and over and over again. That would be my guess. And that wasn't necessarily directed at you. Just in general.

Haha, you ain't seen nothing yet, TacomaWorld is pretty mellow compared to other forums out there.

As @kashtyaatsi mentioned, just about any question someone could have regarding RTTs has been answered in this thread in one way or another. No one expects you to read through 500+ pages, but that search button is pretty powerful!
