I apologize upfront for the newbie question.

I'm about the pull the trigger on some BF-Ko2 or the DuraTracs. I'm seeing alot of people rock a larger size tire which would be cool but I don't want to run into rubbing issues.

My 2nd Gen factory size is 265/70/16. I like the idea of going up to a 285/75/16. It's a taller/wider tire, but I hear some people run into rubbing issues. Some people even take off their mud flaps (which I don't wanna do.) I'd like to get a 1.5-2" lift eventually and I don't know how this would effect rubbing issues too.

I'd like to get a bigger tire, but what would you guys suggest?

265/75/16 is the largest you can get without doing any trimming or lift........there are tons of threads on it. With a lift a lot of people seem to recommend a 255/85/16 taller but a little thinner

I have about 2-2.5 inch lift and had to remove mud flaps, and do a cab mount chop in order to get rid of the rubbing at full turn lock. I have seen some comments from people saying they didn't rub at all, but for the most part you will have some rubbing issue with 285's. Just do some searching and I'm sure you'll find some info.

265/75/16 on stock wheels there will be no rubbing issues.

    285/75-16 will require fender trimming.
265/75-16 will not require fender trimming.

depending on the tire and the wheel offset.. you may have to trim even with 265s. Mine are 17s, but 265/70/17s had all kinds of rub, in front of the tire, and behind the tire. Had to remove mud flaps, trip the bottom of the flare, and trim the liner at the front

Well I'm going to totally sick with a 265/75/16. I just don't want the fuss or hassle with having to remove mudflaps or trim anything. Thank you all for the info and help here. I've learned so much from this forum since I joined back last fall. You guys are great!! :)

Sorry to hijack your thread op, but will 265/75/16 KO2's have rub with oem mud guards? Also what would be the largest size KM2 that I could run. Only go trailing once a month. Also no lift.

Are you willing to cut and trim your fenders to fit a 285/75-16? Stock or aftermarket wheels?

You will need wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels with a lower offset/lower back spacing to fit the 285/75-16 tires. 265/75-16 will fit with what you have. I don't have any pics but you can search "265/75/16 with 2" lift" and see plenty, that's a common set up.

I concur with everyones one's points

265/75/16 on Stock rim will not rub.
265/75/16 on aftermarket rim will most likely rub on the mud flap.
Duratracs have a beefier corner/edge and may be prone to rubbing more than some other tires. I cant speak for the new BFG KO2.
(Duratracs also get extremely noisey as they wear, I used to have them, and I am extremely happy with my Cooper ST Maxx

My personal experience. I went to 265/75/16 on a 16x8.5 Level 8 rim. No lift. It did not rub at the tire shop even at full turn with front mudflaps removed. So it seemed OK.
But it would rub anytime it was turned and you hit a small bump, like turning into my driveway everyday. 5100 set at 1.75 completely removed issue.

Duratracs seem larger, right? Both are 265/75/16

You should be just fine. If there is any rubbing it would be minimal and just when the wheel is turned and suspension compressed.

I just purchased 265/75/16 KO2 for my 2015 SR5, and was told they could not be installed without spacers in the front.

The width difference between stock 245/75/16 tires and these BFGko2 is +0.8 inches, where the tire would shred itself at full turn. Pictures shown of stock size tire at full turn. Stock suspension.
