I've built my truck on Toyota.com about 10 times (17 Tacoma SR, 4x4, manual, utility package) and it comes out to exactly $25,100. Went down to my local dealer and said "order me this please" but they wanted to do a dealer search for it first, fine. Only one I can find in the whole state of South Carolina like I want is in white and I want grey but knock yourself out. They find several BUT they have so much crap added to them that the msrp was $27-28000. Screw that, I'll order what I want and save $2-3000.

Now the problem. The Toyota dealers in my area have recently started doing this annoying damn thing there they add $1975 to the price of ever car they sell. It's basically a bunch of extra crap I don't want but they force you to buy it and will let you walk. They're all doing it around here so where the hell am I going to go to avoid paying $1975 for "engines for life warranty, courtesy van while waiting on service, nitrogen filled tires"....there's more but you get the idea, useless crap to just add to the price. I want a Toyota, I love the ones I've had before, I'm about ready to say F this and go out of state if I have to. I asked if they would delete this garbage package on my order, nope it'll come with it as soon as it arrives on the lot.

Out of state is going to be your best bet.

I've read stories on her were folks have flown across country for their deal and in the long run the plane ticket is even cheaper than the "$1900" bullshit dealers pull.

If they won't order it then your best bet is to get one out of State.

Just deal with Dean Mahalati @ toyota west (Ohio). You'll get the best price & zero BS: 614-204-1106

I traveled from NY, well worth it, and the road trip back was fun.

Is that in Columbus? Will they pick me up from the airport? I'd have to take off a couple days from work, unless I can do the paperwork before showing up and then when I get there just start driving home. Will he work like that?

Unless you're just bent on not having extra options, I'd demand them find the truck closest to what I want and offer to pay $25,100. If not, walk away. I've never seen any dealer that would lose a sale over $2k.

Just outside of Columbus, save the taxi receipt & they'll refund you if I recall correctly...
I did the deposit via mail ahead of time, when I flew there my paperwork was all set to go (e.g. ready to sign). I was on the road in under 30min.

Kendall Toyota in Bend, Oregon can get that truck for you as well as Toyota of Puyallup, in Washington State.

I believe they have a gray one like you want sitting on the lot a few miles down the road from here.

I bought that same truck using Truecar for $24,400 after entering my info. A MO dealer sent me an email with $24,800 out the door--no fees. I took it to my closest AR dealer and he beat it and ordered mine.

I told my dad in SC about the deal and his friend went to the Greenville dealers and they wouldn't match it. Told him he better fly to Arkansas if he could get a 4x4 Taco for $24k.

Keep shopping around for what you want. There are dealers out there that will find what you want or order it. I myself want a 17 SR AC MT 4 cyl 4x4 with the SR Conv Package and that's it. No dealer around has one on the lot. Went to my dealer and told them exactly what I wanted and to order me one. They went in the PC and found one ready to be built, changed it to exactly what I wanted. Should be here in a few weeks.

A lot of dealers are doing that now and they wonder why people hate them. Where in SC are you?

Well when I was going to order my truck I didn't even order it with floor mats because Toyota wants $300 and I can get a set of weather tech for $109. Then I was going to have a hitch installed and that was it, other than switching toolboxes from my truck to it. These trucks had upgraded wheels and steps and I didn't want either.

I went to ABAC, I'd forgotten about them. Thanks! I checked Lagrange Toyota too but they don't have anything.

You live in SC which is southeast Toyota. Those dealerships in the southeast region add clear coat paint film protection, forced front window tinting, toyota guard platinum to every vehicle on the lot.

You can negotiate them down to invoice of the truck before those add ons are made but it's a hassle. If you don't mind traveling go to a state like Virginia and email a dealership that has a truck of your choice without the bs add ons and ask for their best out to door price.

Near Sumter. I've looked at Florence Toyota but they only had a couple of automatics.

Yeah I noticed it just wasn't my local dealer doing it but ALL the dealers doing it around here. When I bought my 2012 they weren't doing it so it must be a recent thing. The stuff they add doesn't have any value to me whatsoever. Who the hell wants clearcoat protection and fabric protection?

I used to work with the GM of Florence Toyota at another dealership. I'm not sure how they would be to order from but they treated me well when i got my 15 used from them last year

The only dealer I contacted about ordering was Scott Will in Sumter but when they told me they'd slap on the $1975 of useless extras I declined to let them order the truck. I know it's pure dealer profit but damn, why can't you just make a couple hundred bucks off of me and maybe I'll buy a hitch from you or something.

Stuff like that is a big reason I am no longer in the car sales industry. I worked for an awesome dealer in PA that actually cared about their customers then moved here and they just want to screw you. They are making their money on the units sold bonus but always want to add in the stupid extra side sticker crap.
