@ChadsPride - I didn't find particularly useful couplers at HD or Lowe's and their hose and couplers are spread all over the damn stores in five different sections depending on what they think you might use them for. So I went to Ace and found all the different kinds of hoses on one wall and all the different kinds of couplers in the adjacent aisle. I expect 4 feet is plenty but I bought 6 just to be safe.

A bunch of people also do a slightly different version where they use a 5/8" ID hose that can slip completely over the original hose.

Ok thank you. Great info for sure.

So the 3/8" hose needs the coupler and 5/8" fits over the existing hose.

Yep. Usually folks use a hose clamp or something on the 5/8 to ensure it doesn't wiggle off over time. I'm not sure how you decide exactly how much clamping force to use in that case...

Found my Vacuum connector and hose at local auto parts store. You can use any tubing you want. I think I used fuel line, but can't remember. The factory drain tube coming out of the firewall is not very sturdy, so you don't want anything too heavy pulling on it. I secured the hose to the frame near the LCA.

I like the connector because if needed you could just take that part off and blow it out.
    Awesome thank you!

By conducting clinical post-mortem examination of my two bad valve cores, I have unraveled the mystery, and determined the cause of death.

    Details to follow tomorrow. :D

I picked up a pack of schrader valve cores (100x pieces and stainless) off of Amazon to keep a few as spares since I use the core-removal deflator tool as well. I inspected my last set of cores and didn't notice any wear on them but swapped them anyways. Can't hurt to put new ones in each season! I look forward to the results.

Asks the mighty tacomaworld a question.
    Gets linked to Crom's build.
    Reads about aforementioned query.
An hour later, still reading through all the pages, wonders what original question was.

I got tired of waiting on Crom to install his mud flaps. I cut a couple of tractor trailer mud flaps in to 4 for my truck and installed them yesterday. Turned out aright.

Not big rig ones but heavy rubber mud flaps anyway.

Hey Nick, hope things go well down in the warm lands. I was wondering if you remembered off hand what type of mastic you used to reapply the plastic liner over th sound dampening material in your doors. Of course that is if you replaced the plastic liner material. Do you have any recommendations for a replacement product?
I am getting ready to get into the door and replace the inner and outer door handles - the outer one (aftermarket POS) broke when I tried to open the door during a cold snap -15F last month. Been waiting for it warm up enough to do the replacement. Eventually $$ permitting I will get into the sound dampening process, right now it is just door handles and cleaning the contacts on the electric window master switch panel, prior to heading back up north to go back to work.

    Thanks for your help, Steve

Very nice Dave! Clean work, looks durable and very functional. Thanks for posting. :) If I'm lucky I can follow suit this weekend. :fingerscrossed:

I've told you this before, worth mentioning again, Thank you for sharing your knowledge about gain antennas all those years ago on ExPo. It was very helpful to my understanding about radiation patterns. :)

It was 40°F this morning at my house. :goingcrazy: We're having a real winter it seems! -15 I don't know what to do! :D

Automotive manufacturers uses butyl rope to attach the plastic weather barrier. It's an odorless black tar substance. Search around, you can buy it. Just make sure you buy from a reputable company so you get good product.

I didn't reuse the plastic barrier, because part of sound proofing is building a sound barrier. If I was going to replace it, I'd go to a mattress shop and get a good mattress bag, cut to size, use butyl rope to attach and should be good!

    Thanks Nick,
It's not winter like back home but it gave a decent imitation. But after 4 winters up north and around 20 seasons in Antarctica, I'm ok with an imitation winter.
I'll check into the butyl rope, I will be changing the pass side exterior handle as well going for the color match, it will be a temp until I can track down the window trim and start accumulating the needed bits for the sound deadening part.
The summer project list beside foundation work for my barn, will likely be wiring in the Tekonsha, a 7 pin trailer socket, re wiring the box trailer for brakes, retrofitting bumpers from my 85 parts rig to my 85 truck, might even get a start on my 74 HiLux truck bed trailer. Need to haul some stuff south. I hope there is enough time after fishing for all this stuff, after work.... it always seems to get in the way.
Then of course there is brutal stuff reduction as well. The fun never ends.
    Cheers, Steve
