    I had the same happen to my calf around Christmas time. I was hanging Christmas lights and had a ladder in between my house and some bushes. I was coming down the ladder and a broken branch was sticking out and it went through my jeans into my calf. I took a step and felt the pain. I was wondering why it wasn't healing as fast as I thought and it was itchy as hell. I took off the bandage a week or so later and thought it was infected so I pressed down on it and a splinter shot out of my leg. Scared the crap out of me.
