    Hi all,

I'm looking for a budget minded (no fox/icon/king) suspension lift for my '17 OR 4x4. I've narrowed it down to 3 choices.

    1) Bilstein 6112/5160 w/progressive AAL
    2) OME coilovers up front with Fox 2.0 RR in the rear w/progressive AAL
    3) OME full kit with dakar leaf pack

I'm currently all stock except for sliders. No plans on adding a plate bumper or cap.

I don't do any high speed off road stuff. Most of my driving is on-road as this is my DD. When I do go off road, it's usually slow, tight, technical trails here in the PNW. No highspeed desert runs or bombing through whoops. I also don't tow anything.

I'm concerned that the OME and fox combos will be good for off road but too plush for the street, while the bilsteins will have great on-road matters but wont be great at low-speed off road stuff.

    Thoughts?

Good to see that you have done some homework. I had the same thoughts when researching mine. Think about where you do 90%+ of your driving?

Mine is on-road with a few multi-day off road camping trips a year in the PNW. I went the Bilstein 6112/5160 route with progressive AAL, using the TRD Baja kit with 650lb coils. Honestly it is a little stiffer than my ideal for low speed off road, part of that is the 650lb coils, but I've also run OME setups before that very smooth off road. However, the truck is a dream to drive on the street. I'd rather tailor it for where I spend the vast majority of my time, so I am very happy with it.

The 3-leaf progressive AAL is known for having a great ride, better than stock. It is the single leaf AALs that have a terrible ride.

Yeah, the 3rd gen is a little heavier than 2nd and the 3rd gen 6112 has a 600lb coil, so it should be a little softer. But yes, mine will be 90% on road driving with more camping/wheeling trips in the summer. Winter time I go east to go shooting in the snow, but nothing crazy.

Is the title just bait? Ha.

Icon shocks have digressive profiles. Pretty much everyone else uses progressive.

I expected this to be a Icon v King/Fox thread but then the first sentence said no icon/fox/king lol.

If you arent considering icon you arent considering a digressive shock afaik

    Edit: i was wrong..corrected below

    6112s are digressive as well.

Anyone else use 6112s for technical trails or think the OMEs are good enough for the street?

We're running OME 888 front with Dakar rears on my wifes truck. Much better than stock. Nice and planted at speed on the highway and county roads. Pretty happy with it.

OVTuned w/ 5.29s 2” lift on Dobinson’s MRR paired with ICON RXT leaf packs. SCS RAY 10s Toyo Open Country AT III 285/70R17
Running full Icons. They are awesome and love hard g outs, ruts, and fast washboards. Ok on the street too, but I would never call them "plush"... more like "predictable."
