Yeah, stupid rats. I made the mistake of blaming the truck when it was not the trucks fault. I had actually looked under the hood and didn't see anything wrong but I didn't look from underneath the truck where I evidently would have seen a rat nest. It is unknown if it is damage that accumulated over time from them nibbling, or if they just went to town last night, but the final blow had to have occurred last night. When I get home, I am going to walk down the street and talk to all of the people with newer Toyotas to warn them.

Sorry to hear this OP. I had a 2014 328i that I parked outside in Houston. It started calling for an oil change very shortly after having an oil change. It also suddenly refused to report the oil level (no manual dipstick). Anyway, same deal... I was all pissed about BMW and crappy car electronics but it ended up being a stupid rodent which ate about 4" of the harness containing the oil level wire ($300). Luckily it didn't happen again.

Here's an idea: Why not just spray down the entire harness with pepper spray, or slop a whole bunch of hot sauce all over?

    Light those little fuckers up.

They got the rav 4 too. Having problems posting pics from phone. Several hoses chewed and those are just the ones I can see. Unreal to me. Less than 1400 miles on it.IMG_1756.jpg IMG_1751.jpg

    Rats like Taco's better.

But seriously, Toyota thinks it's your problem that THEY chose soy based wire insulator that attracts rats? For one thing, who the hell dreamt up soy based wiring insulation?

I feel your pain bro. I'm gonna buy the mothball stuff you suggested. This is all weirdly good to know.

Radical Environmental Moonbats force that kind of crap, it keeps getting worse too because they started forcing things like the seat foam being made of Soy and Corn, so guess what else the Rodents want to eat...

Un-real. The consequence will be more waste when you think about it. Rats eat through stuff on cars...stuff gets thrown away in landfills...stuff gets replaced...the stuff gets eaten again...stuff gets thrown away again in landfills....

    Mindless libtards.
