I had boUgh an EGT gauge but ended up not installing it so it's still sitting on my shelf unopened. Oil pressure would probably be more useful IMO. @MadTaco461 is right about figuring out what you want to do with your maf. Either pre or post turbo. That will make a difference in what type of bov you use and how you install it

Also there are a couple of plugged ports next to the oil filter on the 3rz that are available for feed lines

I hate my spectra MAF adapter. I broke the plastic adapter and had to machine one out of Aluminum.

The plastic doesn't seem like it can take the vibration much being so thin. I'm not too happy with it. I'm thinking to make a 3" MAF housing with built in air straightener and 3D print it. Then you can pull more than 300hp while being on MAF. Plus the position of the sensor isn't in a good spot with all the adapters.

edit: nevermind you can do a maf clamp on piggybacks

Don't forget to invest in a fancy ebc. If you can't control your boost propperly your tune won't account for much, especially when you're throwing around 35+ psi of MAP.

I was going to include the maf with the intake before the turbo, isn't that right? Like 6" from a curve in the piping I believe

So you'd recommend the mapecu3 over other piggybacks? I'm probably going piggyback over standalone

I thought I remember seeing ports on the 3rz filter somewhere on the internet. I was kinda not wanting to run a bov, heard and read it's not needed that much....and that you lose all the boost after shifting.

But if its needed I'd probably run the maf after the turbo so I have enough room between turns so it doesn't mess with it

So all the adapter does is give you a way to mount the maf sensor?

I ran my MAF on the charge side close to the throttle body. One cool feature is any boost leak before it is a non issue so I can be a lot more sloppy with my setup. I was going to not run a BOV too, but that compressor surge is annoying. It will surge just cruising around town. My BOV made it quieter. One down side is hot starts are annoying because your MAF sensor will heat soak and your fuel trims are crazy for about 30 seconds. Poor choice of wording. I say mapecu3 but meant piggyback in general. I'm a bit bias towards the mapecu3 just because it is pretty simple once you get the hang of it.
I have that one. I broke the plastic adapter, but it seems like I'm the only guy that has that issue. That plastic part I just made it out of metal and threaded it to the tube. I definitely torture test my hardware when I take it to the desert and drive the truck like a go cart.

Map sensor would be better. A lot of guys run the Map sensor over the Maf sensor up to 44 psi.

I think URD offers something where you can convert the maf sensor to a map sensor.

I need to interrupt the temp sensor that is built in the MAF sensor. Truck thinks it is getting 160F air and leans out like crazy for 30 seconds.

Any way you can reroute the maf sensor somewhere else cooler? Or would it be too far from the throttle body?

The mapecu3 does it. I haven't tried it yet. Waiting to have some time to try it out since you need to build a whole map for it.

I can put a resistor in place of the OEM AIT sensor (sees one temp all the time) and run another sensor to make my piggyback adjust fuel.

Ahhh I see I was thinking of the Ucon

That's not a bad idea either.

Ucon is a lot easier. Piggyback is like one notch above tuning a carburetor.

Haha I agree... at least there's some options though.

OEM 3rz crank can handle ~1200 tq. If I remember correctly.
