Is this right? I thought you need the $50 membership for the falken and DTD rebates, and I didn't think you could double dip the current $75 rebate on the DTD website with the $50 offered with tread lightly. I'd love to be wrong about that though!

Now that I think about it I'm not sure, I remember they denied one of my rebates but I think it was because I opened a new credit card for another $60 rebate and those didn't stack. Either way joining Tread Lightly will get you a $100 rebate from Falken and you're supporting a good organization!

Agreed. I joined last week, and I ordered a set of 265/70/17 AT3Ws after my previous post last night. I'll get at least $175 in rebates for the set, resulting in $125 savings once you factor in the cost of the tread lightly membership, which is a significant discount on a ~$530 purchase!

I've also purchased two other sets of tires for my other vehicles and I was able to use the DTD rebate for those purchases as well

I went and bought a tire gauge specifically to minitor the wear of my ATW3 Falkens, thanks to this thread.

Who at Falken did you guys contact to get on the rapid wear list?

That doesn't make sense. Are you accounting for the increase in wheel diameter?

You could expect a 5-10% hit on the highway depending on how mpg friendly your previous wheels/tires were. But a 20-25% hit, something doesn't add up.

to leeland111---the change you made from stock increased your tire diameter by an inch from 30.6 to 31.6 and consequently the circumference from 96 to 99.2, both an increase of 3.3%. Your revolutions per mile went down from 680 to to 658. Your actual speed when speedo reads 60 is 62. So your odometer is also reading low by that 3.3%. You have to multiply your odometer mileage by 1.033 to get actual mileage before calculating your MPG. Or multiply the MPG you calculate by 1.033 to give you "real" MPG. Hope that helps.

I still got 18 mpg with mine last time I checked after 120 miles back and forth to work and around town all week. Mixed driving. (conservative driving). with no correction, just miles shown on the trip meter divided by gallons put in. Went from stock sport wheels and the original bridgestone dueller street tires in 265/65/17 to these in 265/70/17 and new FN fx pro wheels. Just slow down a little and don't accelerate hard. Tires have some wahwahwahwahwahwah down the highway and were hard to balance.. balance still seems off a hair cuz I get some light steering shake occasionally. But this is my first A/T tire ever, so don't know how that compares

The light wawawawawa road noise is normal mine have done that from the beginning, has been getting slightly louder just due to more mileage on the tires. And is louder at 70mph.
The wheel shake isn't normal. Def take it back in and get the alignment checked and the wheels re-balanced. I can let go of the wheel at 70 and the truck tracks true and straight with no vibrations or anything

its very very minimal, didn't do it for the first several days either. prolly could use an alignment. Doubt its ever been done. old tires were all wore evenly and had no weird pulls though. Hey, one question.. What are the yellow and red dots on the outside of the tires for? any idea?

Trd S\C with nosecone hybrid bearing upgrade kit. 2.0 urd pulley, 7th injector kit-urd "6 fabtech lift with 3" body lift. 20" XD spy wheels with toyo open country r\t's in 37"x 12.50x20. Front and rear diffs re-geared to 4.88 dirty 30 drive axles. and a rhino pack clutch. Custom exhaust and huge mudflaps!
That tire if you look at it close. The siping on the outer edges is only 4/32nds deep. So in 20k miles those will be gone and you will see just how good Falken tires are! Falken tires are the worst brand i have sold and stopped selling. I wont sell them at all! They failed with the falken 329 first the worst milage tire i ever sold. they only did 20k miles and falken did 100% refund to all customers and took all the tires to "study" The falken high country and the rocky mountain ATS all horrible tires and milage is poor. Also sumitomo and falken are in bed together and are making dual molds again. Like the sumitomo htr p02 and falken pro g4 a\s. mold swapping between the falken stz04....... and Hhhhmmmm boy the new ohtsu st 5000 is the same mold as the old stz04. You keep your falken junk!

The dots are to help the installer know where to put the tire on the rim to minimize the amount of weights needed. One dot is for where to get the valve steam closest. Another is generally the heaviest part on that tire

What tires are you talking about? The new Falken atw3 came out last year. Are you referring to the atw for 2012?

[IMG][/IMG] [IMG] The aroma of new Falken A/T3Ws is permeating my laundry room. If only the darn 4Runner TRD Pro wheels would get here. Expecting them by middle of next week. :)
Anyone know how the read the born-on date on the tires? I can see they were made in Thailand under the Sumitomo Rubber Company name. Beats China I guess.
Will be selling original Off Road wheels (16 inch) and associated Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar tires with lots of mileage left. They have 16K of gentle miles on them. Never off road and rotated 3 times. I'm in south-central FL on the Atlantic coast 30 miles north of West Palm Beach in Jensen Beach/Stuart area.

The good thing is that the smell goes away when you get them on the truck.
