However IIRC I'm 99.999999% positive the 41.75" will fit with 1/8" clearance between the wheel wells.

That's certainly an option, but keep in mind that the 800 lb capacity is what the product/bearings were rated for. Your limiting factor will be the hardware attaching it to the bed.

I purchased an ATC bed slide about 8-9 months ago and it's one of the best mods I have done for the truck. Ran me $1050CAD out the door, including installation, 12% tax, costs associated with getting it to Canada. I suspect that in the US this product will be in the $650-700USD range. The MORyde unit is listed at between $430 and $460. Small price difference to pay to get a proper bed slide IMO.

Also, I don't think "more practical" is an accurate description. I think the enclosed walls of the MORyde unit will cause more problems than they solve.

Forgive me, but I was very thorough in my search and could not find anywhere that ATC makes a bedslide for 2016 Tacoma- would you be kind enough to provide a link to a bed slide for 700.00? That would be good info for all here.
    Thanks

They definitely do/did. This was mine immediately after install:

However, a few things to note:
    - The website advertised on the bedslide's sticker is no longer active.
    - ATC's main website does show various options, but the specific one I have is not among them. That said, they still show availability for 5ft and 6ft compact trucks (ie. Tacomas).
    - I bought mine through a local shop (Kingdom Truck Accessories), but they no longer list ATC among their products. They do list the Bedslide brand.

I also can't find any prices for ATC bed slides online - all retailers say to call them for a quote. My numbers were an estimate based on removal of our 12% tax and conversion from CAD to USD. (In reality, most US-side products are cheaper still after this conversion.)

I followed up with a local dealer of the ATC product. They sell the SD bed slide for 840.00 plus tax and the composite bed slide for 900.00 plus tax. As fine of products they may be, They are still a bit too high for my budget.

The key to success is brackets: You should use heavy gauge brackets like the ones I used. The brackets I used are around 1/8" or thicker steel and capable of loads far exceeding 800lbs each. My drawer has no shake, no movement other than rolling in or out- it is solid.

    Here's a thought-

you could widen the frame of the 52" wide model just a tad (weld on some angle iron or...?) and I bet it it would sit perfectly on the ridge above the wheel wells.

You could use turnbuckles to attach it to the D rings on the corners of the bed (you might also need to weld or drill and bolt tab mounts on the frame of the slide).

You could then put bins under the slide for more storage. I have
4 1/2' Plano cases with wheels that would be perfect.

For those wondering, the 42" wide model will in fact fit in between the wheel wells...with about 3/4" to spare on both sides.

I also ended up making a ladder rack that attached to the inside rails by using custom made z brackets - it worked great- I will put up pics in a few minutes

Bracket I made that is composed of 2 parts- a 1" piece of 1/4" steel about 4" long that I drilled and tapped that slides inside the rail- I bolt through my custom z bracket into the piece of threaded steel- that
holds them securely in the rail.

Here is the bracket as it comes out from under the bed cover- it is designed so that the factory bed cover bears absolutely no weight of the ladder/sign rack-
