Voltmeter

I found a cheap voltmeter on Amazon a few weeks back and decided to install it. I used one of the 3 power outlets that I don't use much. This was pretty simple as the 12v wiring already existed for the power outlet. I did have to open up the hole a little with a dremel. Would have been nice if I didn't have to or I may have considered putting it somehwere else on the dash. I thought I had some more pics on my phone but I will have to take some. I uploaded a short YouTube clip showing the voltmeter on startup.

 

This was less than 4.00$ and I still have all my power outlets.. Nice install though.

 

That looks pretty cool ! I assume you still have the clock function (for what it's worth )? Do you have any details on the part you used?

 

I can live with out my clock. Might take it out at some point. I have a dual USB adapter for the power outlet and a dual USB for one of my carling switch slots also. So I still have 2 power outlets if I ever need them. Was your clock broken?

 

I have one of those USB carling switch outlets and it has a built in voltmeter. I think it was this Mictuning one on Amazon. I had to file the body so it would fit in the slot.

I have a similar one of these, too. Two 2.1 amp usb ports and a volt meter.

This is a great option if you have a factory cigarette lighter you're willing to give up!

The one I have seems pretty well made aside from being too big for the carling switch spot. I it displays the amperage when a device is plugged in, unless there's something wrong and it's displaying the voltage wrong lol

got one of those, a standard 12v, and the volt meter the OP posted in stalled in my Fiero. single switch activates all three.

great little items for how inexpensive they are

 

Mine is a little different - the USB ports and the voltage meter are in a single unit. I did it sort of as a lark. I don't have any real need to know the voltage, but it was less than $15, kept me busy for a while, and it amuses me. I suppose, one day, it will tell me whether my battery or my alternator has died.

 

I had 3. One of which always had a usb charger plugged into it anyway.

 

Damn, I was on my phone and couldn't see the voltage display in the tiny thumbnail.
