I like the chamfered edges as well; I'd just like the base of the ball mount to be flush rather than seeing this edge. See pic below.

I don't mind the three holes - gives you more options (insert joke here). Perhaps eliminating the middle would be best if need be.

For example, mounting a ham radio face and the mic underneath it.

If you could see the other CAD models on my screen right now it would make sense why this one is quick and dirty for me.

I hear you on that one, I'm not too happy about that either. I'd like there to be some aesthetically pleasing machined geometry but we are limited on width and I am a bit concerned about getting too close to the controls. Currently it is drawn at .375" , looks like there is .472" (12mm) of clearance, and the ram ball base is .430" in diameter. I used 3/8" just because that's what I had without going over, i.e., going to 1/2". I'll increase the thickness to match the ram base diameter.

I liked it before, but i like it even more now. Feel like just the two holes would be plenty.
What kind of price tag is this masterpiece gonna have?

I'm not sure yet but my goal is cheap. I'll have to base it off of cycle time and ano cost which is a function of how many I do.

I'd be in if you go through with it. It's much cleaner than the tech deck

    A thing or two...
Printed out the PDF without any scaling, and it looks like the curve is slightly different and the area is larger on the 2008. It maybe "good enough for gov't work", but it isn't as close fitting as on yours.

I want one of these things. I almost got a Tech Deck but don't like how it covers all my A/C controls when you mount items. This is the perfect solution. When can I get one and shut up and take my money

^this. I was trying to figure how to route cable from the cigarette lighter to the A-pillar but this is way simpler. How much are you thinking you're going to charge?

I like this, probably even more than the A-pillar mount simply because of running all the wires around up and under the dash.

Would this be more cost effective than a Panavise?

yes, I have done the mods
I had a panavise installed for a while. Has its advantages and disadvantages; depends on what you're going to mount to it. The Panavise is sheet metal contoured to fit alongside and behind the A/C controls. It had a bit of wiggle when you'd hit a bump with heavier objects mounted (tablets, etc.) since you end up with a pretty long lever arm - panavise->ram ball->ram arm->device. I ended up using it as just a mic hanger, which it seemed fine for. One difference with a panavise is because the mount holes are concealed behind the a/c controls, you can remove it completely and go back to stock with no holes showing.

Lostsheep's mount is gonna be stronger.
