Wanted to spread the word about Hotmetalfab's new bumper lineup for the gen1 tacomas. We will be offering 3 Different styles all with customizable bullbar stinger options.

    option 1
will be priced at $500 Flattop $575 Bullbar $625 Stinger

Basic but stronger than crap. winch mount, recovery points, Light tabs what else do you need...

    Option 2: Tube/Plate hybrid style
will be priced at $650 Flattop $725 Bullbar $775 Stinger

This is out Tube/Plate hybrid style winch mount, recovery points, light tabs, but has .188 center skid and.120 outer skids to hide all the ugly stuff that most tube bumpers don't cover.

    Option #3 Tube/plate Hybrid w/ radiator bars
will be priced at $750 Flattop $825 Bullbar $875 Stinger
Sorry for the crappy pic on this one.
This is by far the one with the most protection. Same features as the Tube/Plate hybrid bumper, except the main tube uprights go from top to bottom and completely wrap under your radiator. So no after market skidplate required.

All bumpers are built on the same heavy duty platform. That include a winch mount that can handle most 12K winches. Recovery points made of .5" steel plate that bolts to the factory tow hook mounting holes on the front of the vehicle. We go the extra step to make our bumpers better than the rest.

Will be live on the website and ebay later on tonight.

Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
If i didn't have my heart set on building my own bumper I'd be really tempted by Option 2.

Do you have any better pics of option 3? It's too washed out to make out anything but the outermost tubes

lets not forget about the rear bumpers that you make as well.

Super fast turn around time too.

Thanks Brad. I will be getting that swing out added very soon. I'm thinking April

Interested in a. weights of all 3 and b. how you solve the different frame rails issue for 98-00. Asking because I'm looking at a trail gear bumper that is a smidge cheaper than option 1 and is purely bolt on for all 1st gen Tacomas. If you can make that happen too then you'll have another customer. Since I see a 98-00 in the pics for #3 it seems like you have it figured out.

Also which would be compatible with budbuilt ifs skids (and other aftermarket skids)? I have over $600 worth of skids under my truck that a bumper must be compatible with so that's a make it or break it. :)

#2 with a bull bar is definitely my favorite. Way more aesthetically pleasing than the trail gear and more protection from stuff flying at my radiator.

We need Fernando to let me barrow his truck to jig the back bumper then it would be game on...

+1 the previous owner had an arb bumper that would make the airbag light go on every time he winched. Took it off as soon as I bought it.

Here's the pics of the budbuilt skids:

I was pricing out how expensive it would be to drive up there vs. pay for shipping last night already before you mentioned to head up there lol. I think it would be $200 in gas. A possibility once I sell my other truck and once the only thing that this one needs is a new bumper. Here's a pic of the trail gear mount. I think that's how they make it a purely bolt on bumper for all first gens:

The issues for me are both cutting off part of my frame that might be handy to have later if I choose to go another route, and at this point in time there's no place for storing a welder in my life :( That will soon change, but for the time being it's going to cost extra $. Still, love the bumper. That pic of the white 4runner did it for me. Looks better than any others I've seen so far and I like the extra tube you have going up to the top main tube on the sides. That's a nice touch.

Built in receiver on rear bumper? potential for spare tire mount? or is that too early to tell?
Definitely like the look of the rear bumper, are the side tubes braced to the frame?
    Availability for 1st gen Tacoma?

yes to all of the above. I cant remember about fernandos bumper if we put in side reinforcement but nowadays, we wont build a bumper with out side reinforcement.when we jig it we will be building a spare tire carrier also. it will be face mounted and dual shear mounting to prevent rattling. not sure on price yet got to figure out what shipping will be.. I'm thinking 200-250 though

SO I always remove my airbag fuse before offroading so I wouldn't be winching on it with the ability for them to deploy. I do this because I used to own a suzuki sidekick and many people had the airbags deploy while offroading. So now I error on the side of caution.

But to answer you question honestly is IDK, We dont modify them or there mounting location. So there shouldn't be any issues. Its funny you speak of that happening with arb. There the only company that I know of that actually crash test bumpers and says they don't affect the airbags. What I do know is our bumper is not connected with bracketry and it bolts on to where the factory tow hooks mount to. so the winching apparatus is attached at 3 different angles, I doubt it will flex enough to mess with the sensors.

I really like that bumper. I'd definitely pick one up with a rear tire carrier.
