So looks like Sunday might be a better day for some that had mentioned helping. As of right now that is the plan. I will be doing some prep work on Saturday but that may be about all. Anyone is welcome to come over either day.

Actually I'll be back in town Saturday night, so I can likely help Sunday. I have no idea where you live, so you may want to shoot me a PM with your address. I'm assuming MidCounty or Beaumont?

Unlrelated @NEWBIETACO ... I got my MTX mounted nicely in the cab, but the mag mount antenna is both too short and I can't stand it pushing on my door seals. I'm gonna put in an NMO antenna (detachable variety). I think that's what you did, right? That way, if I wanted to use my roof for cargo I could still remove the antenna without removing the wiring.

What one did you buy? And did you have to tip the cable or just find a big ass hole and punch the connector for the back of the MXT100 through it?

Go through the back of the cab. I opted to go through a vertical vole, versus a horizontal one.....I didn't want to risk water getting in.

Seal the shit out of it.

Send me a pic of where you mounted it. Where mine is I cut a hole above it, pulled the cable under the glovebox thru the A pillar and across the roof. Removed the dome light after I drilled the hole in the roof and used extension pliers to get it to the hole because I wanted it a little farther back and my hand didn't fit.

There are a few other antennas but finding an NMO to accept that freq was a little bit of a pain.

Yea after looking I decided it would be best to just ask you cause of that exact reason.

I'll get you a picture tomorrow, but I think it looks pretty clean where I got it on my truck.

You think the truck will be ready for hot springs? I vote taking the jeep if not. Y'all can follow us on the mild trails since we'll be in the wife's truck :burnrubber:

I'd take my Jeep but currently 4wd still doesn't work and it tops out at 62mph. Long drive with no AC or roof :)

And the brakes don't work (I'm re-plumbing). And the gas tank is on the floor (I'm re-plumbing fuel lines and replacing fuel pump). And the wheels are dryrotted....

    And more and more...

Yep with mechanical speedo, but still a NP231J so I'm happy about that.

Will be doing SYE from Advance Adapters and a Tom Woods Driveshaft soonish....

Curious why it doesn't work. They are pretty reliable.

Oh, you were referring to why the 4wd doesn't work. The transfer case works like a champ. I have 2Hi, 2Hi and 2Lo. Front drive shaft spins.

I ordered a part to fix the 4wd, it's actually the 3 piece axle in the front on the Dana 30. They called it a CAD (Central Axle Disconnect) and they use a vacuum pump to move a collar over to engage the right front wheel between the front diff and the wheel itself. It's a dumb design and prone to constant failures in the XJ and YJ's that used them.

I ordered this to fix it:
    https://www.amazon.com/Alloy-USA-45...869260&sr=8-2&keywords=cad+disconnect+jeep+yj

That will lock the front axle in place, giving me the classic 2Hi > 4Hi > 4Lo that everyone raves about.

Meanwhile having 2Lo with an open diff is kinda been fun to play with a little. Wicked good dirt flinging.

Ya I remember that vacuum pump, I'll have to see what company makes a lever and cable so you just pull it. Way more reliable than that crap
