I get a hesitation on acceleration around 1700 RPM only when under load. Sometimes I get a quick and sometimes pretty severe hesitation at right around 1700 RPM, seems to go away in colder weather. The truck is in the dealership right now getting looked at for that, but where I can't reproduce it at will, my guess is they aren't going to find anything. I also swear that sometimes on a hill, when I step a little further down on the gas peddle, the engine responds with a bit LESS power.

I also have an issue where I'll be on a long road trip, and sometimes after coasting down a mountain or an off ramp or the like, I put the clutch in and it is REALLY difficult to get out of 6th gear. It acts like I'm trying to get out of gear while the trans is still under load. The clutch is hydraulic, correct? I'm wondering if maybe the clutch line is heating up and not fully disengaging. I have made sure I've got the peddle to the floor, so I don't think it's me not fully depressing the peddle.

I'll just add that this is a 2017 model Off Road edition, and I drive it a LOT! (20K miles in 4 1/2 months) I'm also an analytical type, I understand the mechanics of what's going on with the vehicle and I pay close attention to stuff. I'm just hoping to give the dealership some guidance as they just seem to think I'm dreaming this up.

    Anyone had anything similar?

There's a TSB out for the getting stuck in gear problem. Read about it here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/manual-transmission-getting-stuck-in-gear.415438/

Someone had said that TSB was baked into the 2017s. I hope that was true.

Well, I just picked the truck up and indeed the TSB you mentioned appears to be NOT in the truck already so they have ordered the parts and will fix the 6th gear issue once they arrive. They still haven't been able to reproduce my random acceleration issue, so I'll keep on that one and hopefully it'll be easier to duplicate as the weather warms.

I haven't been able to throw my hat into the ring yet... picked up my 2017 MT a week ago. So far have put 800 miles on it just cruising around. Yesterday loaded it down with about 900lbs of 2x4s and took it to my in-laws where I had to drive in 4 low into the back yard. In both 1st and reverse, I just slowly let out the clutch and she rolled. Easiest rolling 4x4 MT I've ever had. Definitely never have to worry about burning clutches.

Why is my dealership fucking retarded. I am approaching 30000 miles. So I walk into the parts store with Toyota part numbers for transmission, tcase, and diff fluid. They were unable to locate any of these fluids for my truck. While sitting there I Google each part number and show them listings from online parts stores of the exact numbers. There response...Sorry it's not in our system? WTF Elko Motor Company...you suck.

That's why you just give them your VIN and let them find the fluids for you. Even if it takes them 20 minutes to look up your transmission #

I did that at first. And they came back and told me "umm... sir... they don't make a manual transmission in a TUNDRA!" I should have just walked out right then.

Well, yet again I'm not surprised at how dumb a Toyota dealership can be. I usually have to spell it all out for them as well, but the parts guy at my dealer usually knows what I'm asking for about 90% of the time. Its the service guys there I avoid like the plague to prevent putting their head through a window

My dealership never ceases to amaze me. Although in all fairness I completely fucked up an install of some Icon Remote resi rear shocks today. And broke a ubolt while adding a 3 degree shim. What a fucking day. :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

Not sure what happened but as I threaded the top nut on the shock it started fine then about 3 turns down the shaft it bound up! Backed it off and the threads on the shaft are fuuuuked. Ubolt was weird as well. I removed 7 of the 8 nuts on the u bolts easily and the 8th was tighter than a nuns cunt. About two turns after it loosened up I heard a big snap and thought I broke my ratchet, but is was the nut breaking. Now I can't tighten or loosen the cocktail sucker. FML.
I'm drinking now to forget so I will see if I can use a tap in the morning to fix the shock and see if the local auto parts store has a u bolt.
