yep I did it the same day I did the seal. it was fairly easy, though I did spend quite a lot of time reading the entirety of that thread beforehand

Yes I did read the thread twice and it get a little confusing at the beginning. What year is your taco? mine is a '08. I want to make sure I disconnect the right fluid line before I start this.

How much tranny fluid did you drain the first time? I did drained 4qt 08oz of fluid at the time I changed the filter.
I am planning to get 12qts total for this, did you get 14qts for yours?

yea I flushed a total of 14, but by that point the stuff coming out was pretty fresh looking so it was probably overkill but I wanted to make sure I got all the old stuff out completely

I believe you stated in the forum that your taco doesn't come with a tow package... I found this tread (with a tow package) and I want to ask you if this is done differently than mountain lion's how-to...

Great write up. I own an 06 TRD Sport and it's been the most reliable vehicle I ever owned. Just hit 90k miles and after my last oil change my local dealer found the extension housing leak during the multipoint inspection and wants ~$540 for the repair. Needless to say I just joined Tacomaworld and I'm going to fix it myself. If anyone is still following this tread that made the repair. I would greatly appreciate a picture of the seal puller that you used.

@Azrfr just saw this... i used one that looked like this https://static.grainger.com/rp/s/is/image/Grainger/45FF24_AS01?$zmmain$

just work your way around the seal. it's takes a little elbow grease to get it out.

I recently did this because I had to replace a set of U-joints. I went ahead and replaced all 3 sets of u-joints and the seal. I bought the seal at the Toyota but dont believe it had the spring that was mentioned. The bad news is that it leaked again after about 100 miles or so. Now I dont know what to do. I guess Ill check if its seated properly or replace it again. Does anyone have the part number for the seal with the spring?

Thanks. I was confused since a previous post shows part #90311-40034, which looks like its not for my truck. I will check to see what I got.

looks like there are a few different ones depending on year and transmission...

go to a dealer part site and punch in your details.. it will tell you the proper part number for your truck version

I call the dealers, they all insisted that the part number for my 2006 TRD Sport DCSB is 90311-40001.
I saw OP's shown on avarta as '06 DCLB TRD Sport V6 which used part #90311-40034. I would like to confirm this number will fit my truck.
Darn Dealers wwould not confirm the fittment of the second number above.
