if the truck is fixed i would be happy that its finally done. if you got a rental and a few other things like gas cards then thats a bonus.

dealerships can be shitty. im in the middle of dealing with one over an issue that hasnt been fixed at all yet and i havent been given a loaner or any gas cards or anything.

life is too short to be after something that is already fixed especially if it is fixed to the same degree as another tacoma sitting next to it.

if its still noticable and shoddy and would affect selling it down the road then maybe ask them to do it again or compensate for it. but if its done and fixed then maybe its best to move on.

i get frustrated that people think they deserve extra parts or aftermarket parts to compensate them for their inconvenience... especially when they already got a loaner and gas cards and other things.

getting an exhaust or intake doesnt "help" you fix your original situation.

i guess its just people these days with a feeling of "entitlement"
    i dont know

I read through most of this and I can't believe no one pointed out the OP has an Off Road truck and is complaining about a scratch.
Worried the guys at the mall are gonna say something?
Anyway, OP, you bought the truck knowing it had that damage so that is on you. You could have walked away and said you will wait for another one. The dealership did hold their end and got the repairs done. Sure, it is frustrating that it took 4 tries, but you said they did provide a rental for you.
Take the gas and the 100 dollars and continue with life. If you use the truck off road you will get far more damage than a scratch on the hood.

Guys, this has nothing to do with the start of this thread. And I may be setting myself up to look like an idiot.
I have seen this in this thread and several others so I have to ask. What does "OP" stand for or mean? :notsure:

Wow people are really ripping on OP here, I work in the car business and I'm usually the one on here defending the dealership's side. In this case I understand where OP is coming from and although I don't think he should get a free exhaust, I do think the dealership should get it right. But there's a lesson to be learned if this comes up again or for anyone else that finds themselves in the same situation.

Repainting panels is an art and unless you get a top notch guy it'll never match as perfect as factory (unless factory was defective in the first place). Knowing that I would and did choose a different route. My truck had some dings/scratches on the roof from transport when I took delivery, same time you noticed when taking delivery of yours. We got a bodyshop quote of $700 to fix the roof which the dealership was happy to pay, but instead of fixing it I just had them credit me $600 at their store for at cost parts and promised a good survey. This is a huge win for them because they don't have to worry about refixing it over and over if it turns out its not perfect and I'm a stickler, they avoid the whole headache and keep me happy, plus they don't have to coordinate rental cars and bodyshop dropoff etc.... they gave me $600 credit and everyone is happy right away. I'm happy because after touching up the dings/scratch and throwing on the roof rack I don't even notice it AND I got a free Roof rack, window tint and TRD pro grill for the trouble.

At this point its too late for you to go that route, they've probably spent over $1k just trying to get your hood right. After the first time was wrong you should've asked them to use a different (outside) bodyshop as theres obviously isn't up to par. I don't think it scompletely out of line to ask for something separate from bodywork at this point to keep you happy though, exhaust might be too much but fuck it doesn't hurt to ask, or ask for half price on the exhaust and just install it yourself letting htem know you'll still give htem a good survey and accept the imperfect bodywork as part of the deal.

There's your problem. You know what restaurants do to that food when it gets sent back, right?

Sometimes you just gotta eat the bloody steak and STFU.

It comes down to just what things make you happy.

One day I hope to have a vehicle that the doors and fenders are all the same color.

As long as the drive train is good I am happy
