hella 500 instructions suck

Bingo... this is the correct way to wire this (switch simply interupts ground)
The only thing I would change is to tap 86 into something that only is hot when the key is on. That way your lights turn on off when the truck turns off... also a small fuse in the coil circut.

 

Mayne you switched the ground a the power wires on the lamps

 

ok the saga has ended... i did not use a relay but ran the power wire with a fuse. for some reason the switch that came with the lights did not work i used a switch i already had and it worked perfect ....thank you everyone for the diagrams and helpful tips... i was going crazy cause ive hooked up lights before and never had a problem but am no electrical genius

Im having problems with mine too. My lights just click when I turn them on, but the light switches that came with the hella kit dont light up, are they supposed to? When I test the lights they just click, they are brand new any ideas? Sorry to jack your thread.

 

I ended up not using the relay

 

Love the set up gonna do the same for my rig. One question though.. What kind of bulbs do you have in your headlights and fog lights?

 

Also, Hella is German...black wire is hot, while blue or brown is ground.
