    Went up to Canada to get some skiing in at my friends place. Then on Saturday night his kid and my son took the side by side (Ranger) out for a little drive and photo session. A couple hours later they come walking back in, got the Ranger stuck.

    So I think, cool!, i've got recovery straps, recovery boards, my Tacoma, let's go! (I'm still waiting on my bumber and winch, Hint, Hint on where this is going)

    I air down to about 15psi and up we go. We get to within about 50 yds of the Ranger and gets too soft to go any further. No problem, the Ranger is really not stuck that bad so we just lift it out of the snow, turn it around and its on its way.

    Too soft to turn around so I begin to back down. After about a 1/2 mile as the road turns, I drop the driver side into some pretty soft stuff and I'm stuck. I get the shovel and boards out and off we go. The Treds (bought through the GB here) worked great. Unfortunately it was so soft that while it allowed the truck to move, it also just kept going further into the soft stuff too. I think with 4 boards, stacked end to end we might have gotten it. So we abandon and another friend (I'll call him Good Guy 1, GG1) has a friend (GG2) who operates the SnoCats. He can pull you out.

    GG1 calls GG2 to see if he can help. Well we are just outside of the ski area and the Corporation got really pissed the last time they did this and charged the stuck truck about $2000 to make a point. So GG2 says probably not, but he has a friend that operates the Cat for the snow mobile trail, I'll call him! GG2 calls GG3. GG3 says sure, I'll be up there around midnight. Wow, thanks!

    10 minutes later GG2 calls back and his boss says, just take the Cat and get him out. So back up we go, as we turn a corner, it looks like there is a football match going on, the whole area is lit up and there is the Cat sitting there waiting to help. He must have brought the biggest one they have! It was an easy 20 feet wide. He hooks me up with my new straps pulls me out, waits until I turn around and off we go.
    Here I am stuck:

    I give GG3 $100 to say thanks. He wont take it, so I put it in his jacket pocket and say thanks so much.

    He sticks around and removes all evidence of our adventure:

    It was just amazing how many people were so willing to help me out and its good to have friends!

    Oh yeah. As we were digging out, i drippoed into some really soft stuff and did this:

    Ouch, take it easy on that leg.

    Not much arguing with a snocat.. I groom for the xc club and drive the cat, you would be paying for it if we had to pull you off our closed xc trails though.

    Looks like our BR275;

    Bummer about the fracture. I can completely understand how you felt getting stuck. Been there, done that but it wasn't as near as quick though. It involved a lot of hiking and hitch hiking back to town and cell service. Stuck at around 5500 to 6000 ft in Mt. Hood Natl Forest. It took some convinving with the insurance company but they paid the whole bill. It was hard explaining that I was stuck in the snow in May and that I wasn't off-roading...most all roads out there are paved.:thumbsup:

    I have been working on the truck since then.

    Actually this is what showed up:

    Luckily it was a road that wasn't closed but also used the snowmobiles during the winter.

    Nice little story - Thanks for sharing w/ the pics too. Sorry about the leg. Although I have no medical training - it took me about 1/2 sec to figure out it was broken .... Musta hurt .... But that's another story you can tell - and don't forget to tell about the pretty nurses!!
