Not enough to have a build thread.
How many gas cans are required or are there gas stops along the way?

I carry about 35 gallons total and don't have any problems with getting super low..well there was one time but that was just me being dumb. This year I might add a can bringing it to 40 gallons.

Regular gas stations (Pemex) are pretty common along the major roads. If you need 91 octane for a boosted engine it might be harder to find. Also, I've found some gas stations are pesos only while some will do cards, dollars and pesos. It's best to have pesos just in case.

Also, you can get gas everywhere however it might be from a milk jug from some guy's ranch..expensive and who knows who old it is or what else is in it...which should be avoided.

Keep me posted! I'd love to take a two week trip. That's the busy season for my job, but I'm still very interested. The beaches N. of Guerrero Negro look execeptional - I've always wanted to check them out. I've taken 110 mi dirt road, which is now asphalt, from Vizcaino to Bahia Tortugas many times, and know the locals there. It's been years since I've visited, but it's always the same warm greeting when I get to town. I go to the main restaurant, where there's a paper registry all residents/phone #s. I call my friends, they show up, we drink until evening. First went there in 95'. Blew out a 9" axle on my Bronco - a semi truck mechanic replaced it for me with junk parts for $500. Had to hitch to Guerrero Negro to get $$. Taking the dirt road from Abreojos on the S. side of the Vizcaino Pennensula has been one of my life's richest experiences. You get about 60 mi. of you, the Pacific, and nature. Hawks, teranchulas......beer. I still remember the pueblos, as the people of the Vizcaino make it unforgettable. San Hipolito, Bahia Asuncion, La Bocana. Have made it out to the islands via cargo/super panga - Isla Cedros, Isla Nativadad - lots of pics. We were looking for Orcas, found giant sea lion colonies instead - I'm sure there are orcas, but most reside in the waters surrounding Isla Benito.

In Tortugas, they know how to drink. The know how to party. Lots of festivals/fiestas. Used to leave at midnight from Orange County, make it there by the next late afternoon - 18 hrs.

This sounds super fun. I think Baja is getting added to the list of places I want to go.

Take me with you... Baja seems so cool, I'm just afraid to go by myself.

Yeah, sometimes I'm cool down there, others I sh_ _ bricks. When I was 23 yrs old and 139 lbs of skin and bone, I drove to Guadalajara alone up the Pacific Coast, and then up through Michoacan when I was 27, much different then, but still seemed kind of "off". Used beer at times to calm down - just chill out and not be so panicky. I'm always down for a Baja trip - just went last month. Making friends fast with folks wherever I go is key for safety, and that's easy to with baja folks, they're very friendly and will help you. Let's roll in your truck - hahaha - actually the 85' would be perfect, and safer.

    Thx. Cory.
As much as I have been running with this crowd, really need to invest in a setup like this.
Also the CB I have isn't your average radio.
    Mobil base unit, 200+ watt.

That's a lot of watts. Doesn't the FCC limit CB to like 4 watts or something?
Are there many other CB's out there that you can communicate with at great distances? I mean you can broadcast far away but can those that you're broadcasting to respond back the same distance?

I used to go on adventures by myself/kids.
Phones don't work, so if I had trouble I could hit base units in Nevada/Tahoe or bay or central valley for help.
So yes they can hear me and visaversa.

Yes suppose to have the same FCC liscense
as a ham. I just don't run around using it all the time.
