Yes, I have those slot covers on my bars as well, including rubber strips on the back fins of the light. They eliminate the noise at lower speed, but at over 70mph, it's noticeable. Moving the light bar back would be ideal for better air flow and noise level, but I have the older style side rails without the additional sets of holes on the side. I've been hesitant to drill new holes on them because I don't trust myself to get them on evenly.

I had issues with wind noise from my light bar. Wind passing over the fins of the light bar created a whistle. I tilted my lightbar to face downward a little (just kept tilting it till the noise stopped. I didn't this while driving on the highway which wasn't smart but it allowed me to feel for the fix) and it prevented wind from hitting those fins and the noise stopped. Now I have essentially zero noise coming from my roof rack.
Note: I have a sunroof which is how I was able to test the fix

I was thinking something like a hi-lift mount. Landscape guys drive around with them on trailer mounts. I'm sure I can figure something like that to fit.

Trimming stands, brushing farm ponds and occasionally cutting down hornets nests. Not everyday. But I use it a dozen times a year or so. Always stuck out on my old truck with a 6.5' bed. Will stick out even more on this one. Thinking it would be a better carry on the roof. That and justifies my purchase just that much more.

Mount it on the roof and rig up a way to use it from inside the truck. JK

Turret mount with access to controls via the sunroof? I could see this working...

No more dangerous than a canoe or kayak mounted up there... Just like anything else you mount on your vehicle, make sure it's secured well... And locked, some folks are sorry!

Anyone know if there are any good mountain bike holders that would work will with the crossbars?

Looking to get a bike soon and will have a hitch carrier for them, but that will be for short trips locally where I will only be riding the bike, would like something up top to be able to mount the bike on top of the truck for longer trips where I might do a trail or two but will want to offroad so I could leave the bike at camp locked up and not have to undo the hitch carrier all the time.

I would like something that can secure both the front and back tire of the bike.

    http://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/products/bike-carriers/roof/hybrid-bike-carrier_rbc050

Was looking at something like this, but not sure if it would work with the crossbars real well.

So was just thinking about getting one of the front fork mounts, mounting it to the prinsu, and then maybe doing a quickfist mount for the back tire to secure the back tire to the rack.

My kayak weighs well over 40 lbs... Mfg specs 90'ish with the seating system. I'd much rather a 15-20lb pole hit my vehicle than 100lb "plastic kayak". But mount either securely, and you shouldn't have a problem.

I carry my kayak on a Yakima mount on my camper top. 2 straps across the yak and then a bow and stern strap. I've ridden 70+ with no issues... And kayak has a lot more wind resistance than that pole saw.

I think you'll be fine with a similar strap system. 2 across the shaft and then front and rear safety tie-downs. Maybe use some plastic coated wire to prevent it from sliding forward or backward.

I used to investigate crashes. To say a small saw would be more concerning than a 150 kayak is absurd. The kayak is shaped like a missile. If it even got into the engine bay or passenger compartment there would be significant damage or a fatality of the occupants inside given the right circumstances. The pole saw is going to skip and break before it can do any real damage. This is based on thousands of collisions I have seen and investigated in my life. I saw a ladder truck rear end a vehicle and a ladder came loose and went into the passenger compartment of the vehicle they struck. The driver was struck with a ladder rung in the back of the head through the head rest. Crazy stuff can happen. But as everyone else has said just secure it.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
I have to disagree with that statement. I am an electrician and I work with PVC conduit all the time. The proper way to strap round object is to wrap the pipe so you are pulling in opposite directions. Which in turn puts at least three different directional forces on it (left, right and down). If you do it right you can get a forward and back forces on it also.

It has worked 100% of the time. I have used that way on every rack I have had.

I have one of these https://www.rei.com/product/799926/thule-sidearm-universal-upright-bike-mount and it works fine with the crossbars. I am going to add some fork mounts to my Prinsu and will probably just use a bungee cord or velcro to hold the rear wheel. I also have these https://www.rei.com/product/109585/rocky-mounts-jetline-rooftop-bike-mount on my Mini and may mount one of them on my truck. They are very low profile. I have not decided which way to go.

I was looking at the jet line as I think it would work with the crossbars, or I could at least make it work.

But may just end up going with a RockyMount Locking LoBall for the front and then using a quickfist for the rear tire as it would be cheaper and I am pretty sure would work pretty well.

What kind of silicone/RTV do you folks find most effective for the sealant around the spacers? Have to assume it's going to get pretty hot in the steamy summers of the southeast.
