Oh ok. That makes sense. Behind the grill would probably be your best bet then.

Also, you don't think an oil pressure gauge is needed?

I figured I would get an oil pres., a/f ratio, and boost gauge.

I think i it would be useful. I see one on my old 240sx and it was nice to have. I do remember the sending unit on the auto meter one I had was a bit large and hard to fit where you wanted it. Something to think about when installing it.

Just skimmed last two pages so I apologize if I'm completely off base here but just wanted to add the gains your get from a piggy back will massively outweigh the difficulties of tuning. Put simply you won't regret it. As long as you're rich of 11.5 you will never knock so you can just keep pumping the boost and since we already know rod cap strain is proportional to engine speed not crank load you will be relatively safe for a good bit as long as you keep it under 5k

You guys are making me want to scoop up that blow 3rz DC in the classifieds and rebuild it with LCE but unfortunately @Blackdawg amd I have a blood pact to both swap 5.3's so my hands are tied.

I'll see if i can get a 2nd or 3rd gear pull on camera. I had been tracking down a soft brake pedal issue for the last couple months that finally got figured out so I'm more confident ripping on it now knowing I'll stop. Lol

Thanks for the feedback on that. After doing some research recently, I totally agree. My set up now definitely works but isn't optimal. I've recently been stashing away some cash so that can get a Megasquirt3 unit and possibly some 550cc injectors. I found a few builds online that should help out quite a bit with install and set up. I'm hoping to be able to clean up the timing and fuel to extract some more power and up the boost a bit at the same time. I'll post some updates as it goes.

An LCE built motor would be sweet. I would like to do that sometime down the line. A 1gr swap would also be pretty cool.

I've been getting a few things done over this past week.

I had been trouble shooting a soft brake pedal for a while. I stumbled across this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/brake-pedal-went-a-little-soft.60936/ so I figured it must be either my master cylinder or my rear wheel cylinders so i started with the master. Replaced it, bled it, bled it again, bled it again. Some improvement but still shitty braking. So i went to the rears to do the wheel cylinders and when i took the right drum off, the adjuster stopper (to keep the adjuster from threading backwards) had popped off of the actual adjuster. So my shoes were way to far away from the drum probably making little contact. So i fixed that, readjusted the rear brakes and now my truck stops on a dime. Such a stupid thing, but I'm glad i finally got it figured out. After all that, i decided to also put some new Brembo blanks and some Akebono pads of front since the ones on there were looking a little rough. Some random pics of some of the work:

Next up was an alarm system. After my truck was broken into a month ago while i was MTB'ing, i decided I at least needed something to deter losers. So I installed a Compustar system. Shit load of wires but was actually pretty straight forward. Used this website for what wires to tap into: http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/vehiclewiring/3/yeard/Toyota.html

Then I took the hole saw to my front bumper to get some more air flow to my IC

Nice updates, i hope when i do my intercooler in the grill that it gets enough air and doesn't block the rad to much

Thanks. I was up late most this week doing some of those things. I have some more to post with steep updates as well

For the ECU,choice I decided MS3 since it is pretty much a stand alone that you can wire in parallel with the stock ECU. This way you have total fuel control and aren't fighting the stock ecu in closed loop.

Last night I also got around to doing some low budget stereo upgrades. Since I already had much of the dash disassembled from the alarm install, i figured I'd do this as well. I had a Pioneer single din that i had gotten from Crutchfield for cheap a while back. I had it running a set of JBL components i scored from eBay and some JBL 3-way Coax's in the rear that i got for cheap off Amazon. I found a deal on a factory refurb 4 channel JBL amp from the Harman site to run all 4 speakers. It's a 50x4 RMS @4ohm and 75x4 @ 2ohm. Since all of my speakers are 2 ohm coils, I am able to get a decent amount of power from a fairly small amp.

Since my sub was stolen during the break in mentioned above, i also got new one. Trying to stay on a low budget with this I went with a Rockville RW10CA after hearing good things about it from @WildLand. Install was pretty straight forward. I just used a distribution block to run power from the under the seat amp to where I planned on mounting up the sub.

Also, in order to improve the sound clarity and quality, I installed a Clarion EQS746 equalizer. These little things are really worth the money to improve your sound. They only cost $50-60, give you a 7 band EQ, and more importantly, up your preamp voltage to 7volts. The sound difference to me is like night and day. So I have all of my speakers and sub running through this EQ and man what a difference it makes. Here are a few pics:

With the treadstone oil line kit, did it come with everything you needed for it? Gaskets, fittings, plate, enough hose for both, and the bung for the oil pan....

Yeah it came with pretty much everything. The drain line you cut to custom length based on your turbo placement. The only thing is the oil pan bung was a screw in type that you can supposedly install w out dropping the pan. I opted to get a weld on bung from LCE. I was hesitant to do the the screw in bung but others have had positive results with it so ymmv.

You may be able to find less expensive kits on Amazon too that are basically the same thing. I got mine from them since I was ordering the mani and few other things at the same time. Plus it was memorial weekend so they had 25% off as well at the time

Thank you, it'll be a bit before the turbo setup starts. I'm still around a month and a half out from getting home.

I'll change up my plans and go with treadstone kit with the weld in bung. Thanks for the help with getting the parts in order to
