    Dual channel 25 or 50 watts, lets you run 5 watt hand held to 3x or 4x the distance you can run them radio to radio.

    Do my application, it would park on top of a mountain and give us hand held coverage. For an RC group it would let everyone else use a hand held w/o issue.

    Alaska is a different animal, for the gulf of Mexico I'm all about a sit on kayak.

    That sounds about right. Never padleed in a dry suit. We used spray skirts and wet suits.

    In open ground, 3+ miles up to about 5 if you're lucky. In hills and valleys, half a mile or so. Depending on how much mountain is between radios.
