04 PreRunner manual locking 4x4 with j style transfer case conversion. Then after skids and more armor. Long travel and bed cage

Manual locking is the way to go. But do you mean it is just like my 2000 tacoma with the manual shifting tcase, or are you also adding manual spinning hubs?

It will have a manual transfer case (j style). Manual front diff. Manual cvs. And manual locking hubs.
Or Non ADD as Toyota calls it

Yup. I do not trust technology to do the simple shit that I can do.

I am happy with my 85 and getting out to spin my hubs when I need it.

Hopefully it'll be a good set up. I'm not sure what I'm going to go about locking the front. I'd like to go ARB but i guess that's down the road. i think this is the way to go but maybe some of you guys have a better way.
    Finish conversion
    Sliders
    Skids
Bumper( maybe recovery set up )
    Long travel
    35s &Regear
    Bed cage
LS/trans swap (possibly chevy rear end to handle the power )
I haven't decided if I'm gonna put a LS motor or pull apart my 3.4 and build myself a 30 over 3.4+ with 9-1 pistons and a decent turbo set up. Still brewing in my mind

I'm two pages back, maybe this was already answered but check your LCA bushings. That was the cause of my clunk, and new poly bushings cured it.

I have always been a fan of ARB lockers, and in my head I knew it was a good choice, especially in the front. But after the hammers, I know they are the way to go.

I was going up a rather difficult spot known as turkey claw and somewhere along the way I managed to bust my rear driveshaft. So now I am in a spot where there is no turning around and I only have front wheel drive with an ARB in it. I had to go down the hill in fwd and in reverse, and had it not been for the selectability ARB to pick my spots where to engage it, I certainly would have damaged my axle shafts or hub gears as well due to constant lock-to-lock steering if it was an auto or full-time locker.

And FWIW, I do have RCVs in my front axle, so that combo of good shafts and good locker probably teamed up to save my ass that night.

I've honestly made friends with people and I've been very fortunate that they are willing to trade work with me. Or just hook me up. without my friends and family I wouldn't be able to do any of this.

Considering there are about 8 chevys in my family I'm kind of trying to do something different. I enjoy the process of creating something different

Great meeting you and the others, bud. But you owe me karate lessons. Haha. I brought back 10 rigs after I left Saturday morning but you all were gone. Totally forgot about the blanket. Bummed I missed the hike to the water falls with y'all.

What's up, neighbor. Can't say there's an official IE club. I tend to run with this page and the OC page. Cool cats around these parts.

There is an official initiation to be invited to meets next weekend at TDS in Ocotillo Wells. Just drive your 4runner through the notches at night and you are in.

There's a trillion opinions on what to get and in what order to get. I ran with a completely stock 2017 yesterday and it did great. Its a marathon, not a sprint. Unless you have a money tree. In that case, I need some lighting. In ready for 360* lighting. Wheeled Coyote Canyon for the first time Friday night by myself. Time for lighting. Lol.
