I'm about 99% sure this isn't diff breather related if you indeed did the mod correctly. It sounds like you either goofed something running the hose or just something else that coincidently occurred after you did the mod (bad timing). Keep us posted. Best thing is to undo the mod, take it to the dealer, explain what its doing and play dumb.

The only time I had a tranny go out in any car it did not go in reverse at all.

I was going to say that most dealerships if not all are closed Sundays. Sucks man.

I was super delicate running the hose and putting my hands anywhere! My zip ties to the electrical harness heading to the back tail lights is so loose it still slides around... So that's why I'm unsure of what it was I could have done.
And yes my only option is the dealer at this point.
    It's definitely diff/tranny related.

At the dealer today for my 10k service I told them when I came to a stop quickly from 40mph slowed down to 10mph~0 quickly it felt like a clunk in the back sometimes. Like it was shifting down hard. So the dealer said they greased my drive shaft and my brakes were squeaking so they cleaned out the drums and lubricated them. Then today I washed the truck, took it up and down the street, dried it, then did the diff mod ( and no, no water dripped inside when I took off the stock breather, and I'm 100℅sure I didn't drop anything in there) I'm just trying to give the whole story in case it gives clues to anyone. Anyway it's off to the dealer tommorow until they can look at it Monday morning I guess... Going to be interesting how their going to manage to move it around :(

Jacking up the rear and trying to spin the wheels will tell a lot.

I was thinking that maybe you jostled the locking diff actuator somehow and it engaged but unless you took a 90 degree turn and things bound up, I can't see how this would have caused the lockup.

It sounds brake-related to me, especially since you just had had the rear brakes serviced.

the brakes wouldnt stop him from shifting gears though and I think he said he cant get it into reverse...

Didn't think he said that he couldn't shift into reverse. As far as I can tell, he just said that it varies on how much he can move while in reverse and drive

he says it here that he may or may not go into reverse.... Sounds like the tranny....

Heres my thought... Try messing with your 4x4 and putting it into 4 low and playing with your locker... maybe you had it bound up. Cant hurt to try before you have to take it in for a new tranny anyways

Yeah looks like I didn't read that one post closely enough. Definitely strange that it won't go into neutral anymore.

It does sound to me as if it could be the transmission, especially if you are unable to select gears. However, I have also seen drum shoes come apart internally and bind things up like this. You may try pulling the drum cover and making sure everything looks ok in there.

Strange. My drums had locked up on me once with after sitting a week unwashed mud. Put it in 1st gear and let up on clutch and almost stalled - rear drums were locked up with e brake off. Ended up having to press the brake petal a few times and that seemed to free it up. Might be something else. Subd for answer...

My vote is they jacked something up in your drum brakes.

I wouldn't screw with anything at this point, get it to the dealership, play dumb, think it's must be the brakes as they serviced them the other day. Let them figure out if it's not the brakes and is the tranny.
