Mine's a TRD OR too and I hear you on the cameras especially the front. FYI there are aftermarket cameras systems available now they just aren't factory looking and require their own monitor many are even wireless.

I'm in. I'd love power folding mirrors, especially if they were also automatic when I locked/unlocked the truck.

I'm in for the 360° camera too, so long as the costs aren't outrageous

I believe having them fold on lock is doable as for price, yeah well I can't see these being cheap but with what they'll be able to do they shouldn't be either. It's not like the $2300 a piece OEM mirrors on a friends 2016 Super Duty. It is possible to add the options you want though, I would think at least.

I'd be interested in folding mirrors depending on price.

Me and my buds are hoping to make them ourselves unless someone else is already working on it.

I actually did a similar mod like this on my Mercedes a few years back. I wanted the "aspheric mirror" on my Benz (European version of blind spot mirror) and purchased the complete side view mirror while I was in Europe. When I got back to the U.S. I installed them and little did I know, they came with the power-folding option on it. The power-folding motor is the size of an average thumb, small enough to fit in our current Tacoma housing. I only had to connect two extra wires to get the power-folding option to work, very simple mod.

I will tell you this though, to get the auto power-folding option to work (when you shut the car off, the mirrors automatically fold in and automatically open when the doors are opened), the dealership had to program this option using STAR (similar to Toyota Techstream TIS) using european car coding. Since they do not sell Tacomas in Europe, they may not be an option for auto folding to program. So the auto folding option may take a little more work to get it to work.

Finally, when you ship those European car parts in from Europe, they may not pass customs. When I shipped the mirrors, they were held in custom for a month and they did not want to release them to me. Customs said they had European part numbers that were not US Import, but they eventually released them to me. So if you do ship over any part, just scratch off the last two digits of the part number, so they won't know its a European part (I noticed the last two digits were different from US and European parts).

You may want to look into aspheric mirrors, I would give up my BSM for them if they made them for the Tacoma.

I/we have family in Italy, Sweden and the UK one way or another I can get things to the US. As for Tacoma's not being sold in the EU, doesn't really matter that much since the Hilux is and comes with power folding mirrors, it looks a lot like the mirror base is the same or similar on the new Hilux.

Sub'd. I really like the idea of the mirror dipping in reverse. I've driven other cars that have that feature. Make sure the "reverse" signal you tap into is compatible for auto and manual drives. I don't want to be left out. ;)

Even if the Hilux mirrors were the same size as the Tacoma and just bolted on to the existing mounts on the door, getting them to power fold or automatically point down during reverse may take some work.

The motors in the mirrors are just simple motors with a positive/negative wire running to them, switching the polarity makes them go in and out, or up or down. There are no micro chip, circuit board, etc connected to the motors. The mirror functions were controlled by the body control module.

So essentially, you would need to make your own relay/circuit board and connect a reverse wire to it (then limit the power for a couple seconds, so the motor won't be running the entire time the car is in reverse, then reversing the polarity to the power and having it remember your old mirror position) or some how get the Hilux power-mirror module with the mirror. The power-folding option will be more or a challenge.

I'm sure if you put your mind to this, you'll be able to figure something out. Hopefully it will be something simple. Good luck with this project, and please keep us updated.

Not sure why they couldn't just put something like this on them.
Think it was a rav4. Saw it when I was at the dealer a while ago forgot to post the picture
Would've been great if they put this on the taco. Ford seems to put these on all their new vehicles now.

Yuck. I hate those things, they take away usable mirror real estate. IMHO the wide-angle insert is nothing more than a crutch for not properly setting the side mirrors.

    I agree, to a point.
I've never actually had these or those ones you can stick to the mirror. But my jetta has the aspherical ones that the outter edge shows more. Never had a problem with it, actually worked great. But not aware of Toyota having anything similar so figured this was the closest to something similar that they have that they could have incorporated into the tacoma.

Aspherical is where it's at, no seams and heaps more view to the side. Have them on both sides of my Tacoma and love them.

@SMKYTXN said that he will have them for 3rd gens. I used to tell everyone that my @ImMrYo windshield mounted rear view mirror riser was my favorite mod to the truck but now that I've been driving with the EZ-View mirrors he offers I'm starting to think that they are in fact my favorite. I use them everyday and they have made interstate travel safer as I can the mental midgets before they try to run me off the road and when doing light to moderate off-roading I can easily adjust them slightly to self spot my rear wheels.

When he gets to 5th gen 4Runners I'll get a set for my wife as she likes them too.
