2017 Nascar Thread

(1) None! Safety helped but not really related to rules.

(2) If he retires, I probably won't watch many races, unless he ends up in the broadcast booth. I've been a fan of his since his Busch Series days, and never believed he was racing on his name. Just came into the sport with more financial backing than most because of his father. I wasn't a huge Dale Earnhardt fan but I respected the man. Similar situation with Chase Elliott, who I enjoy watching as well. Both of these guys grew up in the sport, so naturally they were going to make it to Cup if they had any talent. Case in point, look at Kerry Earnhardt and his lack of talent.

(3) Possibly 1, maybe 2. It will be about the Mrs. and the daughter if we do, I could care less as I'm happy to watch in HD on my couch with my cheap beer and cheap homemade nachos, plus I usually get a nap on long green runs on cookie cutter tracks, lol!

 

Hard to have good racing in either a wreck fest or not enough cars on track... Not worth the $$$. But lower the ticket prices alot and it may be

 

I like good racing, crashing sucks.

 

NASCAR really keeps trying to make racing worse and worse. This whole 3 stage thing is a worse decision than the COT and the Chase.

 

Not much different than mandatory cautions to check tire wear after racing on a "clean" track.

 

This new damage rule is stupid.. both the 18 and 88 could have been back to the track if they could repair them

You know as I sit and watch the exciting caution laps, I continue to think. Put dam stock cars out there and let the go.

 

This sucks.

 

What a shit show... 7 cars were in the pack at the end. Only like 15 were on the lead lap...

 

One of the most exciting Daytona 500s i can recall watching; nascar has it right so far; great product. Congrats to Kurt!

 

And Waltrip finished 8th! Haha.

 

Having Elliott and Larson go at it and then run out of gas speaks to their rookie-ness, great driving but they didnt look ahead and ran out of gas, couldve won. Such a good race.

 

I liked the last 35 laps. No wrecks, just intense racing throughout the pack (of 20 cars remaining on the track). Only 5 cars finished the race without damage. I LOVE fuel mileage races like that. Everyone was sputtering the last three laps. Congrats to Blaney for P2 at the end of the day. Dude had a rocket ship all week. I give a lot of credit to former quarter midget racer turned engineer Andrea Meuller. I'm looking forward to some more front running by the Wood Brothers this season. Oh, and HOT DAMN Chase Elliott was out there driving like Joey Logano all day long. I bet he doesn't get half the crap Joey has gotten for driving hard because he's The Chosen One.

Exactly right on Elliott; he caused at least 2 wrecks being too aggressive but wont receive any shit; he showed a lot of rookie-ness today but i really enjoyed watching him race so aggressively

 

It would have been better with all the cars on the track...
