I don't see why the dealers wouldn't warranty it. Looks like contamination during the paint process. Don't the feds mandate 5 year paint and under-body warranty, or is that just corrosion.

    ya probably won't
I'll let them look and hopefully they can't tell.

Either way though what type of shit paint job is toyota doing to these trucks?
I've never seen paint damage so easily. I posted a thread about a month ago when I got the truck had bird shit on the door, wiped it off with a piece of shop towel and it scratched the paint. Not even a hard wipe, and there have been a lot of threads on here it seems of the paint being really delicate.

Maybe in the US, but not likely here.
Hell we don't even technically have a lemon law. There is a law that's supposed to protect the consumer but its practically funded by the big auto makers that its next to impossible to get them to do anything.

I know VW offers a 10 year warranty on all paint for rust.

My only hope is that they can believe me I never took it to a detailer as I don't trust them and its been too cold to do anything lol.
Given I took delivery in January and its only february and we've had low temps and snow since.

And I can guarantee this was over night. Since yesterday I had the hood open and was working right in that area, would've noticed it. That's why I'm thinking it was something due to the temperature change. Thursday was 18 degrees (close to 70F) then yesterday was around 8C and got down to -8 overnight. So thinking something with the cold, it was drizzling during the day yesterday then got cold and snow overnight.

I'm considering contacting corporate see if they can help.

I wouldn't take it to a detailer until you give the dealership every opportunity to fix it. If that doesn't work get ahold of the Toyota regional manager. If that doesn't work go to corporate heads above regional manager.

If you went to a detailer before the dealership it makes it more impossible to prove you or a detailer didn't do it. In fact it would give them an easy out.

I'd put a magnifying glass to it to see if you can see more detail. 4X-10X should do the trick.

I had something similar happen to my black 14, I bought simonize glass coat when I got it originally from the dealer. They couldn't buff it or fix it so simonize repainted it under thier warranty.

I would call the dealer, ask him who they use for paint and body without mentioning your name or the problem. Then bring it to the paint and body shop and ask them if they have any idea what would cause that and maybe write it on an estimate if it's factory paint problem , or what the problem is and tell them the estimates for your automobile insurance you were going to claim it . Then bring that estimate to the dealer .

Contacting Toyota directly maybe the best option. I have worked at 2 different Toyota dealers in Portland metro area over the last 10 years and have seen them do some amazing stuff out of warranty. I saw a customer with a Prius and the multi display went out at around 70k, it was a 5 grand repair and the woman took it to the top and they fixed if for free even though it was way out of warranty. Their motto is "take care of the customer and they will take care of the bottom line", the dealer though will not be of much help because they only facilitate the repair and TMC pays the claim.

    +1.

It's either detailing gone wrong, or someone vandalized the truck.

Any body shop you go to will end up blending that spot into the surrounding metals, so I don't think you'll get an end-result that'll be any worse than the factory paint job. Might have to pay for it out of pocket, though :(

How would they test this though? Some sort of specialty gauge thing? Or just be able to see it?

At this point my other concern is rust or something along the lines.

They'll be able to tell just by looking at. I can tell just from the photo that it's a burn. They can also put a paint gauge on there to measure the thickness of the paint.
