Ok, I am sure most will never have done this, but yesterday I was under my 2014 4x4 just checking things out and I grabbed the driver side inner CV housing (the outer housing that has a axle spline that goes into the front differential) and noted that I could move it up and down by 1/4 inch. That seemed like quite a bit of play.....as I am thinking of that inner axle shaft moving against the seal. There is no gear oil leakage. I checked the passenger side and it barely has movement, perhaps 1/8 inch at the most. Truck has 35k miles, never off road (I just bought it). Anyone have any comments from personal observation?

Welcome to the slack that causes the vibes when you lift the truck.

The solid bushing upgrade that you may have read about gets rid of that slack.

It's normal and only a concern when you go over 2" of lift.

I just purchased at 2.5 inch lift and was going to install this week.....but before I did, if it was something I should take the truck back to Toyota for....I did not want them saying my lift caused the problem. I will search for this solid bushing upgrade. I am guessing it requires removal of the front dif ?

Thank you Bishop84.....yes it appears there is quite a bit about it. I guess there are just some things you would never guess so much info is out there on it! Seems like a real design and engineering issue. Bummer
