The reflector is still intact, but not as visible because the backside of them has been tinted. I have been thinking about leaving the rear & side reflectors alone for the production model so all DOT requirements are still met. It is definitely a trade off; tinted blends in for a cleaner look, but won't reflect as much.

That's on the agenda. One project at a time though.

It would be AWESOME if you could make the turn signal sequential like the mustangs turn signal! I WANT!!!!!!!!!!

    I thought about that, but;
    1) It would still be a red turn signal (I want amber)
    2) the turn signal would over ride the brake light. (I like to have them on separate lights so you can tell them apart)

I have 25 sets of LED boards in route.... but had to make a little change on the design.
With the original 80 SMD LED's (per side)+FETs+ micro Controller it was calculating out @ 13AMPS:eek::eek:
Not to mention the heat it would generate.
Revised it to ~40 LEDS per side, it will still be plenty bright and the proper amperage.

Meanwhile, my converted bedroom AKA "retrofit room" looks like a Tacoma tail light junkyard:rofl:

As my quest continues to make the ultimate custom tail lights, I think I have a solution for the ugly reflectors. For the production models, I was trying to stay away from smoke tinting them (DOT blah blah) so I am trying out some of this "honeycomb" vinyl. I don't want them to be too gaudy, and this adds a nice little touch(while still being plenty visible). What do you guys think

I'm the most indecisive person ever. Maybe I'll just run a smoke vinyl overlay for a cleaner look.
Label it OFF ROAD USE only.
    First world problems.

Final version bulb adapter is done:):)

Just to show how critical bulb placement is in the reflector housing...final offset was about ~1" back for the most efficient optical reflection.

    3 revisions just for a bulb socket:frusty:

I'm taking my time with this project, so every angle is covered.
    Really gonna be ULTIMATE tails.

I will end up including the Moroimoto's X-VF amber/white switchback in final versions(as pictured). That is, until @TRSAndrew can get me some VFR's:D

Dont worry.. you'll get a set.
I'm in no rush to complete these, it's more of a hobbie since I like to tinker/build stuff. I won't let these out the door until they are the baddest(actually ONLY:p) tails on the market. :burnrubber:

I'm happy to see you are taking the time to make revisions for the best final product. So many people / companies would get it close and call it good enough. Especially if that enabled them to save a buck or two. Keep up the great work.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I wanted to focus on performance first, with a Function>Form approach. Eventually ending up with a good balance of both. Hence why so many revisions & changes have been made... and there will probably be more.:help:
