OK, so here we go. 2016 Limited going in for 5k service this week. Tranny is bogging down, hunts, hard downshift......Also have noticed the FRONT END SQUEAK when going over speed bumps !! Have already had the hood replaced for vibrating, also drivers door seal for wind noise. In a nut shell ,would I buy it again.....NO !!! The only thing I like about it is the size. Where's the Ford Ranger when you need it.

So for your kicking symptom, are you are saying that under load going up a hill at low RPM the truck seems to surge? Kind of like a small fish tugging on your line?

If so it could be another quirk with these trucks happening in the engine itself. Some have theorized that it is due to the ECM pulling timing when knock is detected. My M/T rig does this and the only way to lessen the effect was to run "better" fuel. In my case, that means ethanol free 91 octane. Here's the thread in question:

    How's your fuel?
I'm starting to think something is up with the fuel tank. When I fill up for the first 1/4 tank it almost feels like a slightly off balance wheel at certain speeds, and when stopping about a second after coming to a stop you can hear a clunk and feel it too. But once I drop to about a little under 3/4 of a tank it all goes away.

Starting to think the full tank has fuel swashing around causing the feeling. It was posted in another thread on here that the baffles that should stop this don't go all the way so you might still feel it at a full tank.

I will be bringing it in soon anyways for my first oil change and get the transmission checked and the TSB for the delayed shift

    I get that.
Sort of feels like a shudder? or like an off balance tyre?

Can feel it in your butt and legs.

Yeah kind of like a shudder, and it can happen a bunch of times in a row. Each surge event is quick, and is very noticeable in the M/T. I can tell you for sure it was worse when I ran E10 87 octane fuel.

Thats some of the 3rd gen owners problem, they are too busy reading all the BS 3rd gen threads and get pissed at the internet.

Well, as you know there are some genuine issues with these trucks that should have been sorted out long before the 3rd gen was brought to market. I will admit however, that reading about other ppl's issues makes one paranoid!

Gotta get off here and enjoy life

I myself feel like my truck drove great during the test drive and first few thousand k. Things started to get weird after that.

So I took the truck in today and explain everything from the truck kicking to the truck downshifting really hard when coming to a stop. New software was installed into the truck at the Toyota dealership today and in all honesty I havent had an issue with the driving yet. They gave me a sheet stating that toyota is aware of this situation within its gen 3s

So you're stating less "kicking", could you be having a placebo effect? or do you really think they may have fixed it?

It could be to soon to tell. I have to run some errands tomorrow so I guess that will be a good time to test it out a little bit more. But what I can see from the update the shifting seems a little different than what it was, in a good way. before it seemed like it would blast gears 1-6 quick. now it seems to go a bit slower unless your punching it. The hill that I noticed the kicking the most I just went over on my way home from work and did not notice the kicking at all.
