Save your money and get a Turnbull Mfg. 1911! Most companies that make decent 1911's are semi custom meaning a good portion of them are machined, and very few parts are hand fit. If you're going to spend the money, save a little extra and get one that's a custom fit and finish. They shoot so much better and you're not getting a run of the mill piece

I've done a mod or two
Don't own one but I've disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt more than I can remember. My grandfather is a gunsmith so he used to have me help with whatever was easiest and usually these were the easiest thing around.

Well you're still alive to write this post so it must have been the good kind of surprise, LOL! I usually prefer to not be surprised with a firearm.

Colt 70's series nickel plated. Too big and bulky to carry so she's a safe queen.

Never too bulky for a drop leg unit.

I usually go concealed unless I'm hunting or fishing back in the sticks. And with this girl being nickel plated I'm not taking her through the mud and brush. Although she does make it out shooting from time to time.

I don't know how big a guy you are, but I use this when I wear my fullsize. Easy to conceal and movement isn't hindered. Of course on a hot day that's impossible to conceal, but I also live where open carry is not only legal, but sometimes encouraged.

I also have a shoulder rig for my 1911 but when I conceal its usually a Glock 23 or Ruger LCR 357 mag. I'm about 6' 230lbs and also live in an open carry state thank God.

    Too few to list.
    I used Galco Jackass.

I think no matter what people use, they will feel the weight and size of a 1911 for an all day carry.

the more i shoot my Remington R1, the more i like it. like, if i could manage a slightly smaller one that shot 9mm or .40, i wouldn't need anything besides those 2.

I would love to pick up a vintage Colt 1911. Not necessarily a safe queen, but something I could display and shoot once or twice a year.

I have a Kimber Eclipse II and a full size Springfield Armory. The Kimber is my primary carry due to it's size, and also greater accuracy.
