    Measurements taken from center of lower eye to 1st notch
    Just keep in mind where the difference is at is the measurement from the top of the boot down to the first notch. The 3rd Gen 5100 preloads the coils a bit more as this measurement is shorter over the 2nd Gen shocks.

    Thanks for the information and clarification on where the differences in measurement are, and the 3rd Gen have more coil preload. My thought was to not induce unnecessary preload and put additional stress on the shock or spring perch. The 64k question. Gen 2 at .85 or Gen 3 at .65 or 1.1. Ugh!

    I guess it comes down to if you feel you would benefit for the additional travel of the 2nd gens and/or what stance you are shooting for and which setting will get you closest to that mark.

    Set at 5th notch 2" and 1" rear block.
    I will move to a 1.5" AAL to lift the rear more.

    need to learn more about this stuff
    @HeadStrong Off-Road I have a TRD Sport DCLB 4x4 on order. I have gone all over this forum looking for a simple answer. but everyone gets so in depth sometimes, and i realize there are a million ways to accomplish the same thing, but if i want to achieve a leveled out look, keep stock tires and wheels, can i just install bilstein 5100s on the front and do the 2nd notch? by doing that, do i need at change my coils? change or add leaf springs in the back? this is all so new to me. and why are some putting a 1/4" spacer on one side? Taco lean? if i do such a minimal lift on the front, do i need to add a spacer to drivers side? i know you can't guarantee anything, but what would be the basic idea to just keeping things stock, but getting the truck level. without using leveling kits (TW has convinced me that they are of the devil and will run my truck). and are you the best price around on the bilis even with shipping them to ca?

    @Pikestaco :

    If you want to just level the truck and are not looking to lift and level or fit larger tires you can just run the Bilsteins. The one thing that I would recommend it to get your truck and measure YOUR factory stance. You should park on as level ground as possible and measure from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender on all 4 corners. This way you will know which notch setting will get you as close to level as possible.

    Some of the Tacomas will lean with the factory coils others the lean occurs when switching from factory to aftermarket coils. Your measurements will tell you if you have a lean at that moment. If you do you can go with the spacer if you don't and develop one over time you can add it in then.

    Please let me know if there is anything else that I can assist you with.

    Thank you so much. :dancingbacon::dancingbacon::dancingbacon:

    hello Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road , I am in the market for a lift for my 16 dcsb trd or v6 4x4. I am leaning towards 5100s with ome coils and either dakars in back or aal. I would like to run at least 32s, no plan on anything taller due to my build plans. I am planning a bumper in the future, no plan for winch at the moment. I also plan to use a rack in rear for a rtt. Not a full overland build but more of a weekend warrior build. I am off road approx. 2-3 times per month on mild and moderate trails. Mostly for hunting in fall/winter or camping spring/summer/fall. This is also my daily driver but not used for longer trips regularly as the trails are close to me. What setup would you recommend? I also have a friend ready to purchase as we are both in the same stock situation. Thanks for your help!

    Im looking to gain just under 3" of lift. I have dclb sport 4x4 with a cap adding weight to the back especially when its fully loaded for camping. My questions are,
    If I put bilsteins all around Do i need a new leaf pack or would aal be ok?whats the differences, and advantages over just the bilsteins?
    Can I run bilsteins up front on stock coils and get a 2"+ lift and keep a comfortable ride? Or are new coils recomended?

    What exactly did you order and how much did it lift it. Did you order just the adjustable Bilstein or did you order the kit with the coils where you set Bilstein to zero to get 2"s. Thanks

    I used the stock springs. Stock leaf pack with 1" spacers with 5100's all the way around.
    Actual lift is about 2.5"-1"IMG_5033.jpg

    How did your alignment come out with the 2" up front? Any issues with Caster?
