As posted above , our code requires a 10mm gap between the back of siding and the housewrap / paper , code only states that it needs a drain at the bottom but best practice adds a vent at the top which allows for convective drying

My old stone house doesn't have this but I'm in country and don't want bugs or scorpions. I have enough.

If you know what you're doing the cavity is bug proof , we use a perforated aluminum j mold top and bottom and above all windows and doors

Not sure if this qualifies for this forum but I bought a Samsung soundbar with a wireless sub off Craigslist and hooked it up today. Sounds great especially in light of what I paid for it.

I finally got the wall and sliding door done on the maple sugar room off the barn today.
Was lucky to have a few extra sets of hands to help out. Especially lifting that door up, it was heavy 9 feet tall and 4 feet wide of fresh sawn pine. I used box rail hangers and track for the door and I couldn't be happier with how it all came out.

Range and micro/hood in. And I'm in love! French door fridge arrives in the next week or so. Cabinets, counter, backsplash got picked today and hopefully cash on hand for spring/summer install!

EDIT. Day light photo added. Gawd I love it! And I think I have finalized cabinet/counter/backsplash!

About 6 years ago our old fridge quit, and we got a French door bottom drawer freezer. We love it! Plenty of space and then some!

Good to hear you like it so much! We had a side/side in our old house and loved it. This house... came with traditional top freezer. Which isn't bad but... the handles were wrong. It opened into the work area, you had to go to the far side of it to get anything out. Same model came in black, white, stainless. The black and white models had reversible doors. Guess which we had...

Doors opening into the work space was one of our top concerns. Definitely not a problem with the french door design:thumbsup:

I like the backsplash. I just did a microwave convection over range and I love it. Never had one before. That's what started my remodel. I got rid of our side by side and kept newer standard fridge in utility room. I now have counter where fridge was since we have such a small kitchen. I went with white since everything else is white and still works.cant afford to replace all my appliances.
I found some nice backsplash tiles at Lowes . Better selection than Home Depot.

Don't even get me started on tile!

Found the cabinets we both love very easily. Found a great quartz counter right after that. Checked out the samples from Lowes and took them to the tile department. Bought a few off the shelf to see them in our home. None of them worked. Returned them. Found three more (2 Lowes, 1 HD). Took them all home-last night. One was mid range price. The other two... well of course they had to be THEE two most expensive tiles in stock. As much as we loved them, and knew they would likely be a very good combo, we hoped and prayed all the way home that they actually didn't match! But they're gorgeous!!!

As it turns out, the mid range is a great match. Only reason we are not going with the $$$ tile is this is not our forever home. Making it nice for us now. Making is sellable later.

I hear ya. I hope this is our as long as we can home since I have axis in backyard. But mini mansions built around us for 1.5 million are helping our value but getting us on taxes.
I have some leftover faux rock that is in my pic I've been posting. Idk about using it at stove but I want it to be bright side. At stove I want something cleanable.

I looked at a beautiful limestone, but it was an unfinished/raw surface with air poachers all over the surface. Beautiful but I just knew they'd fill up with grease spatter! The one we picked is polished but not high gloss.

Did you try looking at smaller independent tile supply stores? I find that local supply guys can be so much cheaper than HD/Lowe's with a huge selection. I literally paid less than half for comparable materials for both my kitchen and bath. Downside is you can't return extras. If you do go Lowe's route, there's very often Lowe's gift cards for sale in the daily deals section of eBay for 10-15%off.

    Here's my latest kitchen before/after

I'll check into local vendors. My fear is that I won't find what I know an somewhat set on...
