Battery issue.

I picked up my NEW truck on thursday around noon. I been noticing that when i turn my key to the second click position, it says check charge system anyone else have this issue?

 

Mine does that when I turn the power on (not start the truck) with the push button. Probably because you're draining battery but the alt isn't running.

 

Is the light on when the truck is running?
It will show that if not running, its telling you the alternator is not charging, which it will not unless the engine is running.
If the light is on while engine running there is a problem, otherwise all normal operation.

but it shouldnt happen right away, it should tell you that when your battery is almost dead right?

 

No, its telling you its not charging, not the battery level.

Yup, because if your alternator went out you would want to know right away, not when the battery is almost dead from no alternator.
