Welp it's been two years now with a dipped truck, there's some spots that have lifted (around the door handles, up against the bed liner, around the windshield weather stripping, around the washer nozzles) but a little bit of paint thinner gets it all to lay back down again. I still have my touch up paint from what was left of my last gallon but I haven't needed to use it!

I still need to get some DipWash though, and see how well it cuts through mud and grime. It's a bitch to get off unless I use simple green. Purple power is a no go. I still fully recommend the Ice spray wax.

How even can you get the coats? Or, will dipping an entire truck look like its been rattle canned?

Yes, no matter what plastidip will have texture. Will it look rattle canned?? That's a matter of opinion, my opinion is yes.

Not sure how my truck looks rattle canned, considering I didn't use a rattle can. Please show me in the first post of this thread where exactly you think the paint looks rattle canned. I'll wait.

Where the heck did I say your truck looks rattle canned he said an entire truck. It wasn't meant to be an insult, I stated it was an opinion as I said. But......now that you asked no picture will show the texture I am talking about so keep waiting. And yes I'm sure your truck looks rattle canned plastidip was not meant to look like real paint.

Yes using a power sprayer will be better than coming out of the can but it will still have texture.......

I plastidipped my entire truck in the same color as OP. I used the sprayer from dip your car and it didn't look like it was rattle canned either. The key is putting multiple coats down evenly and also maintaining the same distance. If you get too far away, then it may look rattle canned. I used five coats. I'll try to find a picture of it. I think I am going to try the army green next. Good job to OP

Why do you have to use a quick wax to make it smoother if there's no texture? This is a losing argument man. Yes it can look amazing but there IS texture no matter how many coats you use it will not be smooth when you rub your hand over it.

I am not against plastidip I use it frequently as a disclaimer.

    Texture =\= "rattle can look"

Please explain how bedliner looks rattle canned.

I do not think you have a proper understanding of the differences between what a rattle can paint job looks like and "texture".

Still waiting for you to show in the first post where exactly it looks rattle canned.

Lets agree to disagree man. Your truck looks great but I'm sure it has texture when you rub your hand across it :D.

Also, for the record, the quick wax is to make it smoother, but that's because the coating is rubberized.... Has nothing to do with "texture". It's like applying oil to a pencil eraser.

I may do white next. But I think this coating has another 2-4 years of life left in it!

Loving the truck man! That gray came out awesome.

What if you wanted to remove the plasti and go back to stock or change colors? What does the paint look like under the truck?

The paint is basically going to look the exact same underneath as the day you dipped it. I did a gallon of plain black on the truck before spraying the gray because some people said the metallic flakes may embed into the paint and I didn't want that. If I wanted to change colors I would just spray over the top of the existing coat. I would have to peel the dip off the bed though since I added stickers back there and can't paint over that.

Edit: I was able to remove the decals without the dip coming off

That's what I thought. Sweet. I've been wanting to do this to my truck for quite some time now.

I didn't really even consider it until my clear coat started failing on the roof and hood. At that point, dipping seemed like a good cost effective solution.

If you do yours please post a pic here!

I wasn't trying to start an argument. Texture is one thing, but when I asked about "rattle can" looking, I was talking about uneven color, like you get from rattle cans. If using a sprayer gets you even color and consistent look, then good job! I have never seen a fully dipped car irl. Didn't even know using a sprayer was an option.

Yep you buy it in gallons from Dipyourcar.com and dump the paint into a paint gun.
