Check the knife laws in Japan, last I heard they weren't friendly when it comes to blade length...

Thanks for your concern. They are really not friendly. That's why I have non- spring assisted SW911N. They might still get me but I really believe its necessary to carry. Just in general, they need to change the way they think about security and safety.

What kind of temperature were you facing when you had the check light? How long did you let it sit without opening the cap? Was it caused by the evaporated gas pressure? It couldn't hurt any mechanics right? 6youbjust needed to erase the code I assume?

So since there's like no personal truck market over there, do you have to install all your own parts, and get most of the truck accessories shipped from the states?

I know most of us on here install a good deal of our own parts, but things like suspension, exhaust, bumper replacements aren't always the most user friendly items to install... Don't imagine there's to many shops setup for this kind of stuff there either... Maybe more commercial type shops??? Be kind of funny to take a Tacoma into a Japanese dealership, and have the techs be scratching their head (actually that's alot like what it is over here in the States too).

Pretty cool though.... Definitely have my curiosity peaked.

    Thanks bud.
Regarding the procurement, yes. I do have to get many stuff from US side. I bought most larger parts prior to the shipment and packed them on the bed.
I know a shop here that specializes in larger vehicles like pickups and SUVs locally. If not, id have to drive 3hrs to get to my favorite shop.
I went to a Motorcycle Mechanics Institute down in Phoenix so I can do most mechanical stuff, though i really hate working on cars as im not so familiar. Ill probably end up doing most of the works by myself. Except for welding, alignment, balancing or major electronic repairs.

    Installed Steelcraft.
There is only 1-3mm clearance when I open the tailgate. Other than that it was an easy install.
Started some work on the junction box.

    Mainly;
    1. Front camera
    2. Side camera
    3. Display for F/RH camera
    4. Re-engrave new frame number by the local official(Japanese Standard)
    5. Modify Rear Turn Signals to separate from stop light, and put in brighter yellow bulb
    6. Put up with bs

Do you have to pay extra taxes still because the engine is over a certain size?

Partially correct. I registered it as "Cargo use" section instead of "Daily use". So the amount of tax is not affected by the engine displacement. However the downside is that I have to get it inspected every year which im estimating it to be somewhere between $500-$1500/ year.

Anyone installed AVS headlight or taillight smoke cover? It looks much clearer than I thought.
In Japanese local regulation, the light color must be visible from 300m distance clearly...
    LH headlight - standard
    RH headlight - with cover
    LH taillight - with cover
    RH taillight - standard

I give you props for having a DCLB in Japan. That's what I got and didn't want to bring it with me to Japan. If I had an access cab, I probably would have.

I've seen several 3rd gens out here. Mainly DCSB though. I'd like to buy an old Toyota pickup and take it back with me to the states, but I think they ask for too much from what I've seen.

You should have brought it over!
I have never seen 3rd gens on the road yet. You should look into T100, Dutson pickups, or Sunny Pickup. I used to drive Sunny pickup and it's a fun toy
