Thanks for the input. I'm not crazy about doing the CMC, but do want larger tires and more aggressive stance than my current stock 265/65/17, and would like the tires to stick out past the fenders a bit. Would CMC be necessary for 275s? I'm also still not sure I understand the backspacing and offset thing, what the difference between the two is and how it relates to rubbing. Would I need wheel spacers too?

You won't know about cmc until you mount, depends on tire selected, wheel backspacing, etc. I run 285s and rub on front fender not cmc.

Love the look of your truck! This is the kit I'm looking into as well. On their site it says that the medium kit is best suited for trucks with an aftermarket bumper, did you have any issues since you're running the stock bumper? I've got plans down the road to get a Pelfreybilt but that's going to be a while.

No issues whatsoever. I wanted to have 1"rake with the topper on. The 888s height numbers worked perfect to match the rear Dakars for the stance I was going for. Rides really good.
Please note I forgot to add the wheel spacers to my list above. No cutting and no rubbing daily driving. Still too much snow where I live to stretch it's legs Offroad.

If I go with the full OME kit (885s), no spacers, and Dakars will that be too high in the rear? I feel like I remember reading some downsides to the spacers up front.

I'd prefer to be as close to level as I can get, but am ok with a slight rake. But I am pretty set on the Dakars instead of AAL.

    Thanks for any insight

    Shouldn't be. It'll have a little rake.

Depends on your application... I'm running 885s and Dakars. I have some rake even after removing the second overload leaf from the Dakars and installing a topper.

You have a DCLB, which is a little heavier than my Access Cab, so YMMV.

Just ordered my dakars today. I have the same concerns with to much rake. I have a dclb as well. With my Leer topper, I'm hoping the settle pretty even and ride nice. If I have to pull leaves, I'd rather do it prior to installation though.

    Hmmmmmm

I'm looking at the kit from Wheelers Off Offroad and it comes with a driveline bearing drop but not a differential drop. The kit from toytec comes with the diff drop but not the bearing drop... do I need both? I've read some guys have the diff drop and some don't. Also, to get rid of taco lean, do I need the front trim packer and the rear leaf trim packer? The kit at wheelers comes with the front trim packer, but I can add the rear.

As I said in my first post, I'm a total rookie at this so really appreciate the help. There's sooo much information on this site that I've read, it's hard to make sense of it all!

Don't get the diff drop, they're pointless on a 2nd gen. I wouldn't spend money on a carrier drop unless you have vibes which you won't know until you're done. Definitely get the trim packer for the taco lean. Dakars will come marked with a sign on them, --, ++, or nothing indicating if they are slightly under or over spec (or within spec). Usually you will get one -- and one ++ so you put the ++ one on the drivers side to help with the taco lean in the rear.

@la0d0g is giving you great info so I will reinforce. Yes do trim packer, no to diff drop (boot slide mod instead), carrier bearing drop and axle shims only if you have vibrations.

Awesome, thank very much to both of you. This is really helpful information.

Last thing (I think) that I can use some help understanding is the back space and offset thing. What is the difference between them, and what impact it has on rubbing and stance.

Finally changed out my pins and installed shims/pins kit from Bilstein. Vibes from slow start about 95% gone. Just a hint of shutter. Going to take out carrier drop and see what happens.

Got my Dakars in finally to replace my toytec AAL in the rear. Going to remove the long overload in hopes to get as close as I can to 24" and see how it sits. Also got some axle shims but will see how the vibes are before installing them.

    This thread is very helpful

Are you referring to the top overload? I will probably remove that as well. Since I really don't need anything higher than 24". Let us know how it turns out. Mine are scheduled for delivery today.
