Hmm subbing because I have the same truck with only 22k miles and didn't realize people were offering more for them. The only problem with Tundras is the gas mileage sucks. Then add a lift and bigger tires and you get like 10 MPG.

Even if I were to sell mine for $5k more than I bought it for, I would still opt to keep it. You can't seem to buy much for $33K in 2017. Even $35K isn't much these days. I would hate to sell it and then have to pay additional taxes, registration and insurance. It isn't worth it to me.

Exactly. I would rather keep my TRD OR Tacoma than swap for a low option Tundra at a similar price point. However, if I didn't just buy a house I think I'd be trading up for a TRD PRO Tundra and making up the price difference with another year or so of financing. I have a pretty serious PRO Tundra infatuation. I need to stop looking at them.

I'm in it for the long haul. I keep them 10 years and 175-200k. I just couldn't believe the prices. I get it if you are in the peoples republic of California or New York, but this was in Ohio. Even with 150K miles I'm seeing guys asking $15k for used trucks!
If you are running bone stock, the tundra doesn't really burn that much more gas. My pops has one.

So I didn't get totally ripped paying 27600 for my certified '13 TRD Sport with 47K on the ODO?

Edit: Trying to ease my lack of buyers remorse. Never thought I would fall in love with a truck, but I did. o_O

The likelihood of buying a Tundra and not lifting & adding bigger tires is very very small though. I'll probably never have a stock truck again after lifting this Tacoma. IDK maybe that's just me, but I would be willing to bet it's the same for most guys on here.

I always love it when guys spend thousands on mods, then when looking at a used truck they declare it "butchered" due to.... wait for it.... Mods. I am boring in the mods... I have a century topper, weather guard mats, seat cover, bed mat, and an ultra gauge. When guys look for trucks they like bone stock. Just how life works I guess. My truck is there to travel and make money. Do I love driving it and have fun? yep!

Call a bank or CU and ask loan value on the vehicle, as well as what their book shows as retail value.

Most folks who want something this new finance. So everything asked over the loan value has to come OOP.

Too many have little downstroke, all they care about is can they make the payment.

That said, there is always that 1-2% niche. The ones who are dying for your exact truck, can pay cash, or have a nice down payment fund. So it becomes a waiting/marketing game. Will you or won't you find the PT Barnum rep of the day? ;)

My original post says it... An item is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay on the day you need rid of it. My dad taught me this years ago trading guns, cars, dogs, and everything else for that matter.

I recently, as in last week, bought a used 2015 access cab 4x4 with low miles. Dealer had it listed as a TRD off road at $30,750 but it was just a base model with TRD rims. After it stayed on the lot for several weeks and they reduced the price, I bought it for just under NADA average trade in but I had to convince them it was not a TRD. I think they knew and were just trying to take advantage of somebody.

I am sure there are some out there paying close to the over inflated list price, but since this one sat on the lot for at least a couple months, I think most are not selling at those prices.

I will say Tacoma's do hold their value better than most vehicles. Found the original window sticker with the owner's manual and this truck listed new at $28,000, so over three years it has dropped less than 10% in value. In addition to the TRD rims, PO had done a few things like a bed cover, window tint and a free flow exhaust.

Bottom line, I think most are selling close to the NADA value and I think most banks will use NADA to determine loan value. Just guessing, but banks probably finance 80% of NADA.

I just saw what I think was a SR taco, as it had the emblems in a few places, but on the rear quarters, it had the TRD Off Road stickers. I wondered if the owner got taken on thinking its is an OR or was I just not an informed viewer?

Or the owner bought some TRD stickers so others would think it was a TRD. I think there are lot of uninformed buyers and the dealers are happy to let you think it something it is not. TRD adds about $1,100 to NADA so the less ethical have incentive to add $12.50 of decals from ebay.
