Hello! I'm buying a 2nd Gen Tacoma. Want a 4x4 V6 DC LB preferably in speedway blue $25000 or less. They are pretty rare in the VA MD DC area it seems.

Feel free to tell me what you think. The following vehicle I've checked out and intend to buy, waiting on seller to get clean title in the mail, should be any day now. Thanks!

    Intention:
Truck is to be used to haul dirt bikes, occasional street bike, kayaks, lumber, haul a 17' center console boat (single axle, no brakes, boat is pretty light). I also plan to take it to local off-road rec areas and do mild wheeling.

    Background:
Sold my 2005 Chevy 2500 HD 6.0 gas as it was getting very bad underneath (yes I had it undercoated, PO let it get bad and got worse as I had it) and it was too big for 90% of what I do. I'm 26, married and commute daily on motorcycle(s), truck will put on 4-5k miles a year (mostly for play). I do all my own wrenching, unless specialty tools are needed. This is my 5th car/truck and 16th (?) vehicle, I am constantly buying and selling motorcycles, street bikes and big dual sports mostly.

    Truck info and mods:
I narrowed my search down to the following vehicle. 2011 TRD Sport 4x4 long bed, 4 door with everything I want, 66,000 miles, ome 3 inch, adjustable upper A arms with Dakar springs in back, spidertrax spacers, 33, HID lights (with proper driver, fused, has "halo" lights with remote, clean install). All mods done well and stuff I would do anyways. He wanted $26k, bargained down to $24k.

    Vehicle background:

One owner, 66,000 miles, was not a primary vehicle but he obviously used it as it has 9k a year on it. He's a mechanic, works on buses at local university. He did most the mods himself, everything looked very clean, electrical and mechanical was done correct it appears. Did all fluids at 40k miles. No issues reported. Truck is clean, had one minor repair on DS back door, parking lot bump, he had insurance replace door (he has pics, I would have just popped the dent out but whatever). Door fitment and paint looks top notch. I couldn't tell but asked about any wrecks and he was truthful.

    My Thoughts:
Price is high, but i'm happy at 24k, it was a bit like pulling teeth to get him down. He's had a lot of interest but people offer 22-23k and he wont do that.

    Future mods:
Bumpers - looking at ARB or knock offs with 9500 lb winch
Wheels: SCS dark copper or similar
Tires: keeping these for now (17)
Plan on putting some mild tires on stock rims as backups or long trips with no off-roading.
Inside: just a head unit for now, DD LCD screen (maybe touch?)

I've been told to look for rust: here is the worst I saw:

Thanks again! TLDR - I'm stoked on this taco, talk me out of it or tell me to do it (probably buying it either way haha)

I miss my 2011. Loved the SWB.

Insurance paid me out 28,600 CAD if that means anything to you, with 60,000 miles on it. It was pretty mint, stock ish with KO2's, factory leather. Rust doesn't look awful but mine was rust check'ed yearly. Go for it.

Truck looks good - love that color and it's tough to find (and tough to keep clean!). It seems like a decent deal for buyer and seller at 24K. I'd look into some rustproofing, as you know MD uses a lot of road salt. Make sure it goes in and out of 4WD OK, and look into reinforcing the tailgate if you are going to be loading bikes and such - the tailgates are pretty flimsy stock. Lots of good vendors on here - I got mine from Relentless. Enjoy the truck!

It sounds like you've found a good rig in your price range. Go get it before someone else does. I paid a bit more than I wanted to for my DCLB 4x4 Tacoma, purchased used about a year ago, but haven't had any regrets.

Nice find. Based on the description you provided, $24k is a fair price.

I bought the truck a few weeks ago. I've driven it a few times now and it seems great! I mostly ride motorcycles around but it's been cold and rainy a few days and its nice to have something warm to ride in. I'm in the process of getting a set of nfab sliders for it. I think next will be a skid plate, then maybe dark bronze SCS 17" wheels. Someone is selling a used Apex bed rack locally for $600, a bit steep to me, but he claims it was near $1000 with powdercoat and shipping.

Both the sliders and the rack are for shortbeds, shouldn't be an issue for rack. Not sold on the rack idea, I want a RTT but would rather it be on the actual roof, the truck bed is for dirt bikes and stuff.

Hoping the sliders bolt up, and I'll get a friend to make a custom kick-out/ kick-up to protect the bed better.
